Welcome to the forum. When you created the short circuit you may have burned a wire. I would suggest conducting a continuity test of the gray and black wires that go from the CPS back to the ECU. Take note of the condition of the connectors, looking for burnt pins or melted plastic. This would add resistance to the circuit making the ECU see a higher value than the normal range.

If you have good continuity in the harness, your problem may be the ECU itself.
