Nice pictures and I know exactly where you were because I ride up there all the time.

Here's one back in January 2013 of FZ1 in the same spot as one of your pictures above...

And one with the current ride it a little ways up the road...

We should go for a ride one of these days.

Have you ever explored this road across from the entrance to the North Fork Reservoir?

It starts out as pavement and turns to gravel at about 1800 ft. There are a few dips and ruts though so it might not be the best for the FZ6 in some places.

.......

Thanks Jon! You don't need crash cage to do gravel roads! lol

So you keep telling me...LOL.

I'm not sure if I want to risk dropping my bike riding it off road. But I have to say the more you post the more tempted I am to give it a try. The riding off-pavement part, not the dropping part :D

Maybe I'll give the road between Hwy-224 and Timothy Lake a try and see how that goes. I could always head back over Mt. Hood from the lake if I don't feel like going back the way I came.

I can't say I have been on that road! One of many which must be explored perhaps! And yes, highway 224 is big, wide, and FAST! I'm not sure what your style is, but up towards Ripple Brook Ranger Station them roads are AWESOME!!! Especially if you don't mind carrying a little speed through them!

Pretty sure they made my front tire what it is!! :D

Yeah the Ripple Brook Ranger Station area is fun :D

My riding style on a bike is slower than it was 20-30 years ago but I still can't resist pushing the envelope once and awhile.

In my Miata it's a different story. I will do things in that car I would never consider doing on a bike. And I have the claw marks from my wife's nails to prove it :D

Cool thanks!

I think the first part is the road to Timothy Lake. I've never taken the cut off up to Abbot Rd. (point A) before.

When I was up at Ripple Brook last weekend they had a detour (the other route on the map link you provided) using NF-4630 to the cut-off because part of NF-57 was closed. But I've never been up to High Rocks so I'll add the route to my list and check it out next time I ride up that way.

I better get some rest. Have to go back to work tonight.

Thanks for the route,

Jon...

Follow this link!!! Its back to the look out and is gravel free I think!
https://maps.google.com/maps?saddr=...DTO-VDE0llovX9daAQ&oq=rippl&t=h&mra=prev&z=13

Although this "looks like" straight lines, the roads are far from straight!
This is from RippleBrook to High Rocks!
((IMAGE DELETED))

This link has the A / B Swapped.... So it goes from Ripple Brook to the lookout! PS - the last time I was up there I left here it was 80F. Up there it was 55F and I was freezing! Still snow in many places.. .. ..

Also I sent you and MXgolf and PM!

Yes, there is a road closed sign from and its from falling rock. They have cleared a path through but the rocks lay on the road and it is the path to Timothy and Harriet an all that. Do proceed forward!

Speaking of; I took off my adventure tire last night. I think I may sees why that tire was discontinued, its dual compound was so sticky/soft off center I wore clean through to the wear bars while the center was still good.
Or maybe I pushed it to hard? lol

I'm thinking I might have to take a northern route out west and visit on my trip. These are some great pic's but I don't think I'd be into putting knobbies on my bike for a road trip. :BLAA:

This past weekend of 06-30, a couple of us had a very warm ride up to the look out! I'm thinking temps were in the mid 90s. A good run up the side of the hill with MX and Jon!!!

Thanks Guys! Hope you had fun!

Some lovely cell phone pictures....

That round-about path of getting from Carver to Estacada is an experiment every time! lol The corners about 3 miles this side of Ripplebrook are so much fun at speed. I had a clear shot on the return trip so I took it! :spank:

I had my sights set on getting a vid camera but had a run of bad luck funds wise, then the Exhaust I never thought I'd buy was up for grabs and walla - video has to wait. As best I can tell i'm pretty spoiled with the roads we have around here but would love to share a video just so everyone can see.
