Hi

I am based in Ireland and have just bought an fz6 following all the rave reviews.
I got a very cheap late 2003 model but have naively discovered through lack of research that this model (silver coloured engine) is apparently 78ps versus the 98ps of the 's2' model.

Is this correct and if so, can the s1 be remapped since it is the same engine?
Or can an s2 ecu slot onto an s1?

ANY HELP WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED FOLKS!!!!

The FZ6 came out in Europe, as far as I know, in 2004. You most probably have the FZS 600 which has 95 hp which came out in 1998 until and including 2003. The FZ6 with the 78 HP came out in 2007...

Thanks for the reply. I know the fzs600 has a different fairing than the early fazer and also different than the 2004 onwards fazer. Mine is the same shape as the 2004 but was registered in late 2003 (53 reg in UK).
It's engine is silver and the bike is black and silver. I am confused as to it's output??!! Can anyone make sense of this?

It should mention your output in the specific manual for your model, which can be found in the technical section here.

It's a .pdf file, and very handy.

Otherwise, find a dyno to put it on!

If it's a 2004 model then it will have 98ps. As has been said, the lower powered model didn't come out until 2007. The easiest way to make sure it is an FZ6 rather than an FZ600 is to see if has underseat exhausts.

If you live in the North or have your bike registered there you should be able to check your log book. It is midway down on the right hand side.
The different powered bikes only came out in 2007 so your bike is fine.
