Need Help Fz6 s2 immobilizer issue?

Hi everyone,

I'm seeking some advice regarding my Yamaha FZ6 S2, which refuses to start. After the winter break, I unfortunately couldn't use a trickle charger for my bike as there was no power available in the garage (though it's sorted now). Since then, I've ridden it a few times (3) without any issues. However, I did notice that the immobilizer light was flashing while riding, and it didn't flash when the engine was off, which struck me as odd.

Currently, the bike doesn't start at all. When I turn the key, the temperature display flashes 'Hi', and there are no error codes. I can't enter diagnostic mode either. Also, I don't hear the fuel pump priming when I switch the key. I already tried the master key (the red one) but no luck there...

I suspect there might be an issue with the immobilizer, but I've only had the bike for one season, and it's my first one, so I'm reaching out to you all for advice.

Any insights or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Are you sure your battery is fully charged, it might be just battery issue.
Or it might be wiring bad connection issue. Check wiring harness, which goes to immo.

I am sure the battery is fully charged, I am not sure about the wiring and harness that goes to the immobilizer (I did take out the battery) so it might be the issue thank you! I'll check it and keep you updated

Update: went to the shop to get readings on the battery and that is not the issue the battery is fine... So I am out of ideas on saturday my bike is going to the mechanic my hopes are on him. Thanks for all the suggestions and help!!

Hello all,
I have just bought a FZ6 that had starter issues, hoped it was the coils and swapped out for new, but still no spark.
The oddest thing is that I can't enter into diagnostic mode at all.
I now suspect it is an ECU or Immobiliser issue. My symptoms are exactly the same as Bryan's, (Bryan, did you ever sort you issue out, if so how please).

Im wisdom from Ghana
I have problem with my fz6 Yamaha , anytime my engine become hot then the oil light starts to flash , go off for sometimes then come again.
Sometimes it even make the dashboard go off but the bike engine is on
I need help on that

Hopefully you have checked the oil level and confirmed it is correct.

With the electronics flashing on and off, I would suspect corrosion in the wiring harness. It is difficult to know where you have an intermittent or shorted condition, so I would methodically clean each wiring connector; starting at the ECU and the instrument cluster.

I recognise some of these symptoms, the plug connected to my ECU was badly corroded, so much so that moisture had got into the ECU (the ECU is quite exposed especially if you ride in all weathers (as I did). This was repaired by a company but after just over a year it started playing up again (only when warm or after a longer ride). well I sold my FZ6 to someone for parts (it had over 150000 km on it anyway).
I hope the original poster found out what was wrong and could get it fixed
