Rent a bike! I'm sure we have members in that area from NorCal Group.
There are awesome riding spots. Just be aware of behavior in our changing elevation tight turns. You'll have a different bike going down and going up.

I like "Rappa's" restaurant at the end of the pier. The Monterrey aquarium is supposed to world class. Can't tell you about casinos in the area.

Great riding, food and scenery yes! Casinos no.

You should make the brief trip down to San Simeon to see Hearst Castle, or just go to Carmel and take in the scenery. If you need to stay close, I would look into what event might be taking place at Laguna Seca when you are there.

Well, I'm back. Monterey is a really nice, upscale city. I ended up going to Rappa's restaurant my first day and I wasn't that impressed. However, I went to Sardine Factory and it was totally awesome (and very expensive). It was definitely high class, worth every pennies.
We visited Fort Hunter Liggett (business) and my commander wanted to take the scenic route back to Monterey. So we took Nacimiento-Fergusson Road down to Highway 1. Highway 1 is supposed to be the best scenic route. And it is, but that Nacimiento-Fergusson Road is a real biatch! Essentially we are traveling down a mountain. And talk about twisties! If anybody has ever taken this road you'll know what i'm talking about. This is the ULTIMATE twisties, although it can be very dangerous. Those in California want to elaborate on this road?

Glad you got a little touring time in and enjoyed some sardines. I grew up on the east coast and there were fish stores, restaurants and smoked fish second to none.
That's why I had invited you out here in the past for some rides. It's hard to explain riding at different elevated degrees up or down in the twisties. It will bring your riding up a notch. My wife and I caged it up there last year. We really enjoyed the roads but all I wanted to be on was a bike.
Get back out here! Rent a bike! :rockon:

I've seen you've been on that road. The picture you posted is pretty much almost at the end of the Nacimiento-Fergusson Road. There were several shoulders you can stop and take in the view. But before you get there, tt was a long, long stretch. I wonder if you've been all the way either up or down that road...

I think you are asking me a question? Yes I've been up and down it, over the river, and through the security checkpoints where they make you show your M class, reg., and proof of insurance.
It's a good road, one of the few that connect to the coast in the area. There are many similar roads all over with varying degrees of simultaneous awesomeness and sketchiness.
