How to turn a bike

So I ran into this U-tube video called "How to turn a bike"

Looks possible but doesn't seem safe, is this actaully a good idea?

Yeah, it's do-able. It can also be done on the centerstand.

But it puts extra stress on the stand, and you may wind up breaking it.

That trick was definitely not in the design specifications.

I do this in the garage everyday I ride. Its a trick that my dad showed me when i first started riding.

I do this all the time with my fz6, I need to park in a very tight spot and it wont fit otherwise.

Yep thats how its done! My buddy does it with his R6 all the time. I never do it, the FZ6 is fully capable of manouvering its way outta a tight spot :Flip: lol, well at least i havent run into the need to use this technique yet

That would definitely come in handy when trying to pull out of my messy garage and back it around the car in the driveway.

I have done it a few times on the FZ6. I liked the last few seconds of the video when the stand popped back, we nearly had a how not to turn the bike lol.

That's a great idea I'll try that out, but... yeah all I was thinking is that it would be pretty easy to fold the stand up while doing this and possibly injure and make a fool of yourself before you even saddle up.

Probably better to do it backwards so that the bike weight pushes the stand forward and holds its position.

I do that as well - not always but when needed.
(I noticed that at the end of the vid as well, I like that it all of sudden started playing backwards...)

I saw this done at a Dealship. The bike was in a tight spot and the salesperson just leaned the bike over and spin it around. I tried it with my Fz6 and liked to have dropped it. At only 150 pounds I just don't have the ballast to do this.

I've been doing this for years...only dont do it on asphalt in 80 degree plus weather...

I would imagine, doing this often on concrete, you'll eventually wear the foot off your kickstand... ...that's how I sharpen my bench chisels, steel on ceramic, but I don't apply a 430-lb downward force!
