So anyway my day starts out like normally, I attend Sylvan learning center to help me study for Praxis and CBASE test for education in Art. I rode up there on my bike which was about an hour trip. Did my studies and left.

On my way back, about 20 minutes into my ride, a piece of plastic bagging(about 12-15ft long) which I assumed that fell off a semi-truck had blown onto the road (country road) and blew up on a car. I was in Fenton, Missouri; some people may know it, some may not. The piece of plastic had blown up and had missed me but had hit the car next to me and was snagged on the car. I didn't think anything of it first. I just figured that it happens all the time. That was until I noticed it blew up in her driving view a few times. It got me thinking of the possibilities, my solution was to remove it from the car.

Thought about grabbing the plastic on a straight-a-way (while moving), but I didn't trust the driver of the car and it seemed like a dumb and unsafe idea. We were traveling about 35-40mph side by side (2 lane road, both sides).

I simply just matched speed with the driver until we hit the next light and drove up next to her, put the bike in neutral, leaned over (staying on the bike, because I am at the light) and pulled the plastic off her Sebring.

The truck infront of me Ironically was a trash truck. What are the odds? He saw me take it off the car and stuck his hand out the window and just waved his hand to give him the plastic bagging that I pulled from the car.

I never saw the driver's expression from the car, but I kept thinking about this all day and I just felt silly about it, but it was something that made me feel pretty good. It's a lame story but, thought I would share it.

Seriously good karma coming your way man.
No better feeling in the world than doing something nice for someone without being asked. Well done!

it is a silly story, but it is very nice. Thanks for sharing hearing about other people who are willing to step out of their bubble and be kind is nice to read about.

Thanks

I don't think it is lame or silly at all - good job! Way to project a positive image of us riders, you should feel good about it.

I'm really, really glad you didn't try to get it while in motion. Shows it's always best to think things through before acting. It doesn't take long to decide if something is a bad idea.

That's a funny story.

I have often thought of moving in close while moving to close the open fuel filler-cap lids when people forget to close them after filling up.

A great story, and you probably earned a few brownie points for the MC community, thanks!

Also, I couldn't help but giggle. Where else but a motorcycle forum can you read about a commute

and think, "What a lucky guy!" :D

It crossed my mind about grabbing the plastic on the move, but yeah....just didn't quite add up for me. I wasn't really scared too but, I had cars behind me and in front of me, and thats is just too much for me to handle when on a motorcycle. Even if I had a vista cruiser, I cant watch the plastic and the cars at the same time.

:rof: That's true! Usually a one hour commute would make us cringe!! :D

When you live out in the middle of nowhere, in a hole, hidden in the trees, away from civilizations of all kinds. It takes an hour to get anywhere. Ask Krid, he came over once to my house out in no-mans land lol. I should of gave him gas money.

I live 30 mins from work etc...
School=60 mins
Closest Town=25 mins
Sylvin Learning Center=60 mins
Closest Mall=60 mins

I get a lot of riding in. My car will literally sit for weeks.

Thats funny.. like the planets all lined up. What time do you get out of school, I work in Fenton and get off from 2:30 - 4:00. We will have to meet up and ride after work/school sometime. Hope some of that good Karma blows my way I just snapped off a sprocket stud tonight and had to drill it out. Sorry to Hijack your thread but anyone know where to get a new stud? Auto parts store?

Also, Beth... we really need to get together and ride soon. Is Jeff ready for a 100+ mile ride yet? I have really been wanting to get together and ride again!

He isn't lying. I live in the country, Gee-off lives in the STICKS! His road is eerily similar to the one you see the baddies flying down in their pickup trucks on the movie "Shawshank Redemption."

Vista cruiser? How would a station wagon make it easier?

I would be up for another StL FZ rider's group ride.

You just discribed where I live. I have a 120 mile round trip comute. It's not so bad in the summer when I'm on my FZ but in the winter when I have to fight with traffic and weather it sucks. All that and living on a gravel road where even if the pavement is dry the gravel is muddy and a mess. My poor FZ is always a dirty girl. :BLAA::spank:
