Hey everyone!!!

Does anyone know which models are with the 78 hp and which are with the 98 hp? I have a 2004. I got it used and I don't have an owners manual. Which is it?

Is there that big of a diffrence in performance?

Yikes! Some country may have gotten a LOWER horsepower engine than the U.S.? I haven't read anything that varies the HP from about 93 for all FZ6's.

I haven't found anything which indicates a diversion from the 98 hp norm. Of course, that was just a basic google/wiki search. Where did you find 78?

I think you can't find it in manual. Search for another sources.

If I understand it right 72KW is what they would say in Europe, and Asia, where in the states and in Blimey the answer is 98HP.

we got both versions in the uk and still do the FZ6 with the box section swing arm is the lower powered version around 80p and the new S2 has the 100hp more or less R6 motor with a few twists to pump out more mid range they are easy to spot as well the FZ6 has a square swing arm and standard sliding front brakes and the S2 has the funky shaped swing arm and the monster 4 pot calipers on the front.

Guys I just called Yamaha and they said that some 2007 models where imported with lower hp (78hp). I don't know if this happened in other countries as well so if you want you can check with your local dealer to be sure.

Thanx for the info!

it would probably be a good idea to link sites that are in English...

now I'm wondering if my fz6 is 78 or 98 HP! i shouldn't have clicked on this thread....

You are right about the site but I couldn't do anything. It was the only one I found that refered to the fz6 with 78hp.

You propably don't have to worry unless you have a 2007 model.

Now I know my (faster blue) 2004 fz6s is with 98hp.

I have a 2007! ah, well, it's the red one, so I know it's as fast and powerful as it could possibly be anyway.
