I don't think there is a prob with it being on the side of the bike (never heard of any one being booked or hassled). The problem I have is that it looks like carp and so far I have lost 2 and the $7 chain guard bolts that go with them. One was lost because a cop turned it slightly to read it at a breatho and the other was lost 'cause my arm moved it when I squeezed through to wash the wheel and thought I'd tighten it up when I got home. Doh!. I don't think they should be on the bike at all, but if they have to be then attached in a tube to the plate would look better.:thumbup:
