Last Wednesday John & I took a few days and rode up to Estes Park, Co. then down to The Great Sand Dunes Natl. Park. Our first night, we stayed at The Stanley Hotel. For those not familiar, it's where Stephen King stayed and got the inspiration for The Shining The Stanley Hotel - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Nope, still haven't seen any ghosts there.

Heading to Leadville form Estes, there was this old hotel (The Deleware) I thought was interesting.....something different you know, yeah, it was. Hotels and most things that were built in the 1800's were small, really small. Now for me, it wasn't a huge deal, I'm 5'3" but for John, who's 6'3"...it was a problem!
I'm glad I stayed there once, but honestly, I wouldn't recommend Leadville. The city was basically closed by 6:00. If I wanted to do nothing but take a walk and watch TV, I could have done that from home!

Down to Monte Vista to see The Great Sand Dunes. We had heard of a Best Western hotel down there where you could watch a drive in movie from your room. Yup, you can! The Best Western Movie Manor has very nice rooms, a very friendly staff and a pretty good little restaurant attached. Although the movie kinda sucked, it was a good experience and I'd go again.
