Slip-on exhaust

Hey guys,

I bought my fazer 2005/2006 a couple of months ago (with the help of this forum, amazing forum!). Now i'm looking to get rid of the standard exhaust. I would like to get a slip-on that i could install myself.

I feel a bit overwhelmed by the different kind of slip-ons you can get, i saw dominator, leovince, etc. I mainly want to get rid of the standard exhaust sound, not performance boost neccesarliy (but if there is a small increase, its always nice).
It's my first bike, so i feel a bit unexperienced in choosing which slip-on to get. I rather not spend more than 500 euro's on this.

I would really appreciate some opinions and experiences of you guys, that would really help me make a choice.

Increasing the airflow through a Fuel Injected engine doesn't give you a performance boost, it just makes it run lean because the fuel map is based on the stock exhaust and a set amount of back-pressure.

I love my open Scorps but their not making them anymore.

If you could find a used set..

And just putting a slip on, no other mods, won't make the engine lean out,
it'd run fine.

I have the Two Brothers M2 in aluminum. About 600 Euros new but out of stock. Could maybe find used.

Just pulled the silencers out this past weekend, she sounds much louder. Will play it by ear on if I’ll put the silencers back in.

Yes, you'll have some more air flow however, if CAT equipped, leave it in. Should you pull the CAT
and have slip on's, (especially open), you'll likely have some slight running issues (leanish as you posted).

I have just OPEN Scorp's, still have the CAT, no Power Commander, have not touched factory
fueling #'s.

I have absolutely NO running issues, dead rock solid idle (set at 1000),
excellent acceleration, NO de-cel popping/backing firing. 40K currently on the bike,
open Scorps since 2010. Sound is tolerable, get above 6K, she's a screamer...

IE, if just a slip on is installed, the engine will run fine...

I just fitted the stainless Delkevic slip ons to my 2007, they look great and sound awesome, but are very loud even with the baffles installed.

They do look awesome.

You can quiet them down by wrapping the baffle inserts with stainless steel wool and wrapping that with stainless wire, like safety wire. I’ve done it before and it works well.

Never thought of that. I have Delkevics on my FJR and I love the tone, but they are louder than I like. I'm going to give that a try. Thanks Gary

Regular fiberglass insulation works too, but gets carbon fouled and gross over time. The SS is less maintenance (and can be cleaned with brake cleaner).

Thank you for all your opinions and reactions. Feels like it's either Dominator or Delkovic if I want to buy something new.

As far as i've read on different threads, the Delkovic is very loud and Dominator is experienced 'quiet' by some people.

I'm just looking for a step-up from the original exhaust, because for me it sounds quite basic and boring. However i'm also not looking to wake-up the entire neighborhood. This makes me think Dominator is the better option. However, i'm still interested in what you guys suggest.

Sounds like you are looking for a fairly minor increase in loudness from stock.
These threads are at least worth a read-through, at very low cost there is at least a chance it could be the right option for you:

Hello,

i have a stock exhaust system and I want to get rid of the chainsaw sound on my bike.
I don't want anything fancy, just want to get rid of the stock sound)
I want to do it the cheapest way by drilling out the mufflers.

After 5 hours of searching and reading the forum(during work ofcourse:Flip, 3 cups of coffee and one very loud fart, I still have some questions.

I tought about drilling them out while still on the bike (I'm lasy). but then some little pieces of iron will fall into the muffler. does this hurt the bike? Or is it best taken off the bike before drilling...

I decided to order the larger spark arrestor baffles for the 200mm cans from Delkevic. Installed them today and am more than happy with the result, still has the same kind of note, but has taken quite a few DB’s out. Not sure how I can load up a video clip?
