Its looking good and riding equally well. Rear shock came out good r1 with custom valving and the preload adjuster, all is well! I'm pretty happy. Now to mod the exhaust and get naked!

Oh really? I don't understand this fascination with going naked. IMO stripping the fairing makes the bike less practical and versatile. Couldn't imagine riding the Columbia Gorge w/o a fairing.

Glad you finally got a result with your shock.

You've painted so much of the difficult stuff but you're leaving the ugly, fake metal exhaust cover? That's one of the easiest things on the bike to paint black!!!

That thing looks phony no matter the color. It will be changed when the time comes to replace it with something else.

As for the fairing - its just too much turbulence. For the speeds I cruise at, the air is cleaner without it. So if I find a kit or OEM I like, its on my to do list.

VERY happy with how this rear shock valving came out! Went for a 150 mile ride through all sorts of terrain - its very compliant with my style and matched the nose extremely well. The bike is predictable, flick-able, squat on acceleration is near perfect, bumps and irregularities are absorbed equally front and rear so anything happening in a corner is just seamless. Compared to the OEM valving of the R1 - the re-valved shock combined with an adjuster came out well.

FWIW: Sag is back at 29mm which was 170mm installed spring height. Current valve settings (for my records) +12 Rebound, +15 compression. (JOE)

Here is the installed shock:

Mods to the plastic for tweaking:

Melty to the Bushing.. .. .. as in who knew it was plastic inside or teflon or and what ever it is.

Anyway - to keep the PC out, it had tapered silicone plugs in it from both sides. When I pulled them out, it there was a molten puddle of goo in the middle between the plugs.

Lastly - if you don't order the security bolts for the ignition key, 8mm X 1.25 pitch X 20mm is what you'll want to install the lock again.

OK - here is the new bushing and guess what, it has some black looking plastic inside. I'll see if I can knock it in soon. So - NOTE TO SELF, don't cook your bushing. It melts!

Yes, I do! Hopefully this gets them to maintenance stage where a little touch up will keep them happy. For now its "Good Enough" and we'll see how long they stay this way!

Oh - Mothers Mag and legs from old Levis pants. Keep the strips long and do the old school shoe buff action. You can even reach the opposite header if need be.

Thanks for the Motivation Scott!

2013-06-12 Time for an update!

The ONE thing I never thought I'd spend money on came last night (Hint: rulez were broken), and now Crisis is all torn apart!

I shall join the loud and obnoxious gang blowing smoke through this!

The ultimate in crappy photos....

Crisis is Ready to Rock and Roll! Pipe install was painless. Undoing and redoing my lights, that was painful. I see changes in her future with a complete custom tail tidy and real mounts for the pipes. The current TT shakes a tad. I'm not liking that. Sound is pretty Awsome! We'll see how long until I get evicted! lol

She is now keeping the spirit of NorCal FZ6, bike alive with Two Brothers Exhaust! Thanks Man! Loctite was applied to most fasteners and on the pipes went!

Thats it for now! Maybe some day time photos later!

On a separate note:
Old Fizzer exhaust OFF! New Two Brothers Exhaust ON (w/DB killers installed)! Battery was never disconnected so that is what I'm talking to.
The weather here is cool and wet, Below 55F. Her normal temps would be 165 for the ride I just did. It is my butt meter that says, this has leaned the engine out a tad as the performance is down and the temps are UP 177, but not enough to ping or detonate.

It MUST be breathing better!!!

Yes, it has the DB killers installed and whats funny is open CAT is just about the same idle volume as TB with DB killers installed! :spank: :spank:

Just thought I'd share!

Oh ya reset the battery. A TB sync couldn't hurt. Cool beans! Bike looks great!

The extra Fiberglass packing I believe is for one piping you'll need rivets when repacking. Be sure to request the "updated rivets" Two Brothers utilizes when or if you repack mufflers. I mean rivets are rivets, but if Two Brothers are claiming they use different ones than what they include in the repack kit. Perhaps you should request them. They did engineer the exhaust... Just sayin. Shouldn't have the need to do for awhile. Its totally doable with the DBs. But if you get a chance take that puppy out this summer and remove the DB killers. You'll know what I mean when you have a big ass smile on your face:thumbup:

I always wondered what it would be like to change to a better cooling fan with this bike compiled with exhaust and bypass computer.
