Stuck water pump

Hello everyone,

I have recently started attempting to remove my water pump from a 2007 Yamaha FZ6. All bolts have been removed and it can twist a little left and right but is stuck and won’t pull out. Any advice?

Tap it in a rotating manner with a dead blow hammer (not a metal framing hammer)

around the edges or as if I was hitting the numbers on a clock?

Do I then attempt to keep prying after tapping it?

I gather your referring to the water pump cover itself??

Or the entire unit as a whole?

The entire unit is stuck, face plate comes off rather easy

Did you remove the impeller yet?

I have not, I watched a removal video in which the guy just wiggled the entire unit out after removing the two first bolts. I’m assuming the impeller is #3

Yes it is... You may have some build up or just wear (kinda rare), hampering removal.

#5, the mechanical seal is hammered into part 8.

Remove the impeller first and go from there.
