twisted ankles :(

thanks, been doing that....that's why I put so much time into Wavex's little game. I just sat here with my little ice pack listening to old theme songs

I am glad my game helped someone feel good :D

I`ve sprained both my ankles and all you need is patience... keep it elevated if you can... if you can put a little weight on it you should be good in a few days.

Get better!

I'm sure somebody out there has had a twisted ankle before. Can ya tell me what to expect? I fell off my garden wall on Saturday (:tard:) & Dr. said it's not broken but bruised badly enough to have fluid on the joint? Whatever.
I'm kind of worried I won't be able to hold up the bike when I come to a stop. I'd love to have some feedback.........

As Nelly pointed out what you can expect probably depends on the severity of your injury. But here's what I experienced:

I sprained my ankle so badly that I thought I broke it. I was turning and I thought my foot would just slide around but didn't. My body turned but my foot was planted very well. I heard a pop and went down hard. When my eyes started to water I knew it wasn't good. My ankle swelled up way too big to put my shoe on so I went to the doctor thinking it was broken.

The doctor did an evaluation much like in Nelly's post and said that it was not broken, just sprained. He recommended walking on it as soon as possible. Didn't want to see me on crutches but walking normally to accelerate healing. He said to wrap it with an ace bandage and elevate it at night too but also to walk on it during the day. Recovery to where I could resume normal activity was a couple of months. I can still feel a tightness in my ankle to this day (happened 6 years ago) but I don't have any pain.

His advice seemed to help me but you should defer to your own doc because he is the one that has all the info.

I wish you a speedy recovery!

You really should wait to do ANYTHING that requires you to support any weight on your ankle. Better to give up a little riding time now, than to try and fix a broken bike because you could not support it when you needed to... Been there, done that! GRUMPY

I would agree and say take it easy for awhile. Here have some credits to play with in the Casino to pass the time!
