Those who have seen my posts have seen me mention the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA) several times. This week a very close friend, former MSF instructor, and manager of governement affairs (lobbiest in Washington DC) hung up his helmet and retired. His name is Imre Szauter. He has done many pretty awesome things in the 10+ years he was at the AMA. Every year there are literally, hundreds of pieces of legislation introduced that have an impact on us as motorcyclists. Things like helmet laws, loud pipes, motorcycle only check points, ABS brakes, etc are constantly being looked at from a legislative perspective and the AMA is the only or one of the few organizations with lobbiests looking out for our rights. Imre was a true advocate and his contributions are appreciated and his tenacity will be missed.

If there's one motorcycle club that you are considering joining, please give the AMA some thought. Here is a link to a list of articles Imre has been a part of -
