I took me a good few months to get used to gloves when I first started riding.
Please persevere. The benefits outweigh the potential negatives like road rash.
Bikes are designed to be ridden with gloves on. The switch gear is chunky for that reason. There are times when I find that my hands get to warm and I really want to take my gloves off. I will often take to sets of gloves out with me especially as the weather starts to change. In the mornings its still cold so winter gloves are ok, when I come home from work its nice and warm so I put my summer gloves on.

Good Luck

Neil

Absolutely...same here. It was torture to get used to it but worth it in the peace of mind you get in return.

I too was very worried about wearing gloves. Now it feels odd to work the controls without gloves when I'm loading my bike into my truck for example.

I have mine set right at 1000 +/- 50rpm or so.
I like the sound of the low idle speed - even if it means having to crack the throttle a little on t/o

1. sit on your bike
2. lean forward like you're going to kiss your gas tank
3. lean to the left like you want a good view of the yamaha logo
4. look under the tank for a phillips head round-bolt...round as if you can adjust it with your fingers but it wont fit in there. its gold colored i think...but you can't miss...its the most obvious one you'll see under there.
