Do you have any addresses so I can add them to the map , or maybe other places you stayed at during your "Eurotour"
Funny how "italian side" automatically linked to a baroque style chair on ebay. There are 25+ campsites in the area south of Split but for the map you can add the village of Podgora.

Rome: at first I tried to find a site at the coast but it turned out to be an endless line of parked cars and beach clubs. Maybe there are some campsites in the city but I recommend going 40 km north of the city to Lago di Bracciano. It's a volcanic lake and at the south side there are 3-4 campsites.

Florens: 30km north of the city at SP65 and Passo della Futa are one or two campsites located at some altitude, for when to escape the heat..

I stayed here with my bike quite a while ago now (2008 ). It is more of a business hotel and I was staying here whilst attending a course from my work. I had originally planned to leave my bike parked in the courtyard but the friendly hotel staff offered that I could park it in the "tradesmans entrance" which was an alleyway at the back of the hotel, which had large gates which were normaly locked.

This hotel has a great atmosphere and lots of character, as it's an old coach house which dates from pre 1500, some rooms are bigger than others but it makes a refreshing change from some other rubber stamped Hotels

This is far from a bikers hotel but with lots of character, and I hope to bump this thread (back to life) as well

If you going to camp in Europe - very easy to do. Just set your GPS to the nearest camp, and go there. That's what we did.

The owner is very biker-friendly and I could park wherever I wanted. I decided to park the bike right in front of my room, so I actually had a really nice view looking outside my window room.. my bike :) (the first attached picture)
The second attached picture is my bike in front of the Arada pension, waiting for the owner to open the gates.

There is free Wi-Fi everywhere, each room has AC, the pension is very clean, and the staff is really nice. The pension has a total of 7 rooms.

The hotel is nice, the room was ok-ish and they have free Wi-Fi. Everybody was really nice and the food was great!

And one important thing: they don't speak English, but they do speak German...and Hungarian, of course.

Though I didn't stay in it as a biker but rather as part of a business trip but know it is more than accepting of bikers. There is also a link if you leave it in German (seems to go away if you change to American English) that says Motorradtouren, click on that as it is about motorcycle tours.:

Country: Germany
Town: Holzminden
Accommodation type: Hotel
Name of the accommodation: Hotel Hellers Krug
Address: Altendorfer Str. 19, 37603 Holzminden
Website: Home-eng - hotel-hellers-krug.de

(Credit card is accepted)
Breakfast: included in the room price
Parking: free private parking outside of the hotel. I remember them saying something about a free to use, workshop in case your bike is acting up as well but didn't ask to see it.

The hotel is nice, the room was no Ritz Carlton with it's typical German bed layout (comforter, fitted sheet, and 80x80 pillow) and quite normal room decorations and fixings but I lived there for 10 days and felt more than at home. They have free Wi-Fi and a public use computer. Everybody was really nice, the food was great, and you get a free beer ever day in the room's refrigerator! I managed to fry my battery charger for my camera but the had an extra one at the front desk to let me have for the duration of my stay. The main desk guy is also the head cook. The employees are all pretty, young ladies if that's a selling point for you. The website and hotel itself has information on bike tours in the area.

The head guy speaks English very well but as for the other employees, it can be a little hit or miss depending on if they paid attention in English class or not. For me having had German 11 years ago, it was no problem the couple of times I had questions. They understand more than they can speak.

On another point, now that I'm in Germany I have 3 times the vacation time so if anyone is interested, I'd love to tag along for part of your ride if you're in the area (or even if you're a bit farther afield).

As yet I don't know, someone else is doing the hard work :)
It'll be different from last year, I think we might be doing it the reserve way with a few different passes. Might even do more of the French Alps as we've got a French girl coming with us :D

French Alps are a blast. Take the 902 all the way to Menton, if you have time. Many cool passes

Alps Road Trip 2014 Itinerary

The words in Italic are my mates route plans, most of my comments are under the hotel listings.
My photos for this trip are here https://www.flickr.com/photos/urbannivag/sets/72157645279087579/

Day 1: Saturday 5th July 2014 - Germany

Booking.com Link: bit.ly
Hotel Name: Sängerheim Rachtig
Address: Gestadestr. 5, D-54492 Zeltingen-Rachtig, Germany
Telephone: +49 (0)6532 3659
Website: Sängerheim-Rachtig.de

Clean rooms, we were in a separate building from the main hotel about 200 yards away. The owner cleared the patio and allowed us to park our bikes off the road and undercover, nice!
Food in the hotel was good and staff friendly.
Not much else nearby though but pretty by the river

Day 2: Sunday 6th July 2014 - Germany
This is an interesting day, we leave the beautiful Mosel and head in the direction of the Black Forest, there is a 24 mile play on the autobahn for those that enjoy a quick blast before hitting the famous B500. then onto our overnight stop at Uhldingen-Muhlhofen “Lake Constance”.

Booking.com Link - bit.ly
Hotel name: Bodensee-Hotel Kreuz
Address: Grasbeurer Str. 2, 88690, Uhldingen-Mühlhofen
Telephone:+49 (0)7556 928 890
Website: Bodensee-Hotel Kreuz |

We’ve stayed here before, rooms are excellent, the showers could shift rust I reckon. Big off street parking. Good food and friendly staff, Free WiFi

Day 3: Monday 7th July 2014 - Austria
Now we head off to the beautiful and very scenic Tyrol & Vorarlberg, Austria. This route takes us through Hochtannberg pass, Fern pass and of course Gerlos pass.

Booking.com Link http://bit.ly/1A6okSQ
Hotel Name: Landgasthof Hotel Wasserfall
Address: Familie Hollaus, Zeller Fusch 119, 5672 Fusch, Österreich, Fusch an der Glocknerstraße
Telephone: +43 (0)6546 249
Website: http://www.gasthof-wasserfall.at

We had dinner at this place last year, food is good. We wanted to stay at the place we had last year but it was fully booked on this date. Rooms are good though and sets you up good for Grossglocknerstrasse in the morning.
It’s run by a crazy Dutch bloke who likes a laugh and push the most expensive dish on the menu.
Off road parking. Free internet via cable in the rooms or you can rent a Wireless point for €5

Day 4: Tuesday 8th July 2014 - Italy
The big one, yes we now have an exciting run over Grossglockner, this is a toll road costing around €25 so a nice dry day would be good. Then it’s Italy and the Dolomites as we head for our next pass, passo Giau, then passo Fedaia, passo Costalunga and passo Mendola before heading for our overnight stop at Via Per Marilleva.

Booking.com Link: http://bit.ly/WDCvzp
Hotel Name: AFFITTACAMERE RESIDENCE LAGO ROTONDO
Address: Via Per Marilleva 900, 61, 38020 Mezzana -
Tel: 0463 757164
Website: http://www.affittacamerelagorotondo.it

Bit of a odd one this as it’s a bit off the main road and my mates Satnav wanted to take us over a footbridge as the new road wasn’t listed, so we went over it lol
It’s a bit out of the way, but has underground parking if need be, but the owner allowed us to park right in front of the hotel.
Free WiFi, basic but decent rooms, again another places with a powerful shower.
Has a pizza restaurant next door with excellent well priced food.

Day 5: Wednesday 9th July 2014 - Switzerland
Now we start the day with passo Del Tonale before the heart stopping passo Di Gavia which sets us up nicely for Stelvio pass and it’s into Switzerland we go starting with Umbrail pass then Offen pass and Fluella pass before our overnight stop in Davos.

Booking.com Link http://bit.ly/1jVvmEZ
Hotel Name: Chalet-Hotel Larix
Address: Obere Albertistrasse 10, 7270 Davos Platz
Telephone: +41 (0)81 413 11 88
Website: http://www.hotel-larix.ch/

Expensive and small rooms but clean and comfortable, well it is Switzerland, so best to give up drinking booze while in this country. They allowed us to park in a secure underground carpark. Free WiFi
We eat in Davos town, personally I wasn’t impressed with the place. I’ve stayed in much better snow resorts. It’s a country you need a lot of money to enjoy.

Day 6: Thursday 10th July 2014 - Switzerland
Today we do the swiss biking ring which is Julier pass, Albula pass, Oberal pass, Furka pass “my favourite”, Grimsel pass and Susten pass before heading off to lake Lucerne for our well deserved overnight stop. – we had to go the more direct route on this day as the weather was ****e and was snowing… in July.. Shame as it says above the passes are brilliant, luckily I’ve done them before.

Booking.com Link: http://bit.ly/1rBrFXN
Hotel Name: Hotel Rigi
Address: Seestrasse, CH-6354, Vitznau
Telephone: +41 (0) 41 399 85 85
Website: http://www. http://rigi-vitznau.ch

Again for a Swiss place it ain’t cheap but a nice hotel over looking the lake. Has bike parking around the rear. Food was good but expensive. Free WiFi

Day 7: Friday 11th July 2014 - Germany
Now we start making our way back home, we head out of Switzerland directly onto the B500 for a great progressive bike ride back into the Black Forest, Germany.

Booking.com Link: http://bit.ly/1ufw5oY
Hotel Name: Cafe Rundblick
Address: Oberdorf Str. 37, 72270 Baiersbronn
Telephone: +49 74423587
Website: http://www.cafe-rundblick.de/

Bit of a old hotel this one, but clean and friendly and has a bakery on the side with awesome cakes ☺
Parking off street and free WiFi.
We eat at another hotel which was ok, afterwards 3 of us went on exploring and found a great little bar and restaurant run by a couple of cute fräuleins – http://www.restaurant-kritik.de/56565 - it also appeared to be ladies night and all I’ll say is we left late the next day ;)

Day 8 Saturday 12th July 2014 - Germany

Hotel Tannenhof
Am Kurpark 2, 54595 Prüm

Booking.com link - http://bit.ly/1pGn5CW

Another out of the way hotel, I’m sure my mate books these ones so we don’t have too much fun in the evening and can ride our bikes in the morning, though he says it’s cheaper to book ones not in town. Lol
Walked into Prum for dinner about 15mins, a few restaurant to choose from, all good by the looks of it. Bumped into another load of Brits on a biking holiday, it’s a good place to be based with access to many good roads.

Day 9 Sunday 13th July – home ☹
It’s now a dash back to Calais using motorways and home

Hope this helps someone :)

Not sure this is what the website intended, but a good link to some great roads can be found here - http://www.dangerousroads.org/europe/switzerland.html

That's an amazing ride, I would love to have a whole week to ride  (maybe when the kids are older). Great pics as well.

Thanks once again for all those places to stay, great stuff, I'll get them added to the map this weekend .

Has anyone else been out for a trip on their bike in europe and if so could you please post where you stayed, cheers.

I usually choose to spend o night or two in this Hungarian city everytime I drive through Hungary. This hotel is the nicest place in Szombathely, so far (I stayed in more than one place in Szombathely). It is clean, it has free private parking and free WiFi. No to mention that it is very close to the Austrian border. :)

It is a very nice hotel, quiet, clean, good wifi and free motorcycle parking. The most efficient hotel I have ever stayed at. The only drawback is that it is a bit far from the center. But....hey..free parking :D!
