Wonder how this will affect the already relatively smooth FZ1

Can't speak for your FZ1 but they work great on an FZ6!

OK.. it's a nice improvement. It doesn't get rid of vibration, but it muffles a good amount. I wouldn't call this addition a must on FZ1, but it does smooth things out just a bit.
I'm guessing it's a worthier investment, if you ride a FZ6.

Had a chance to open her up a bit on the ride home (9-10rpm).. makes more of an impact at that RPM.. significantly smoother with these bar ends. Nice upgrade!

Make sure you post a step by step install guide. :)

Excellent idea!

1. Pour yourself a pint of your favorite beer.
2. Put on your favorite mellow playlist.
3. Replace bar ends. (approximately 2 minutes)
4. Take a cool picture and post it on the forum.
5. Have another beer!

Yeah the $80 seems a bit steep at the time but after putting them on and getting only the minimal buzz, you soon realize its a worthwhile spend. I am so glad I did mine early on.
There was a group buy from HVMP some time back, if you ask nicely, which I did, and tell them you found out about them in the forum they might knock a buck or two off the price and bring it back to the group buy $. I have to say they are really nice people to deal with too
