Who said thats illegal? I'd like to see a DA with the stupidity to prosecute a veteran for enforcing the law. They'd cut him down as fast as that vet cut that flag down.

Personally, I feel that it should be illegal to fly any other flag other than the stars and stripes anywhere except places where its appropriate (foreign embassies, etc).
Excuse my language on this bit, but if they like their god damn country so much they want to fly a flag for it, why are they here? Go the hell home.

Amen and NO need to apologize

The blood that was spilled to keep this freedom then to have somebody disrespect the symbol that those gave their lives for.

on a side note ... I noticed no one even began to try to stop him (smart move)

In the UK if someone flies the George Cross (english flag) or Union Flag (UK flag) they are seen as some far-right racist nazi nutter. Or a footballist. Either way not something attractive. The government is embarrassed to promote England and sees patriotism as the aforesaid nazism. Sad state of affairs isn't it.

Is that why you see so many George cross's in Benidorm ;)

I must admit I hang little (st Georges, or union jack) flags outside my door when the world/european cup (soccer) is on and the neighbours find it quite funny. I also hang (more) Dutch flags (for my wife and kids). Further up there is an Italian and he hangs up his tricolore (or whatever it's called). Luckily all our neighbours are (still) very friendly.

I only do it for the time of the competition and take it down afterwards.

Guilty as charged

If the government enforced their own law about not letting illegals in, we wouldn't have this problem.
I found the full version of that video and the news casters said they had later talked to the store owner on the phone and he said he didn't know that what he did was illegal and that he bought another American Flag and put the mexican flag back on top to support his country. MAKES ME MAD.

In the last world cup, my local authority passed a law making it illegal to fly the George cross. As they did not want to increase racial tension. Most of the coloured lads in town who were into football were wearing the bloody England shirt.
