Ok ok, im getting your messages, this post will be a bit long but ill give a run down at where we are at. The trip dates are what we are trying to work now, i quit my job yesterday and start another in a month so to be fair to the new boss we have pushed back another month, as well as to miss school holidays. At this point mid april through to may next year i also need to come up with the money, we will be on a budget, but not a ridiculas budget, planning on trip costing around $20000 aus, so got some hard saving to do. Everything has revolved around vegas(nascar basket ball) i dont want shoulder to shoulder crowds. The places ive picked are touristy, because my missus has never been overseas and i want her to have as many fun memories as i still have. We are going to fly into LA we at this point have trimmed to 6 days, was planning to stay just off strip about 10 min from uni and 2 blocks from theatre at a place called hollywood heights. We are coming with empty cases so first day will be get over shock and go to santee alley by bus. Next is 1 day at universal studios, which can get to by bus. 1 day to do strip wax museum theatre rodeo drive tar pits. 1 to do santee monica pier, venice beach again can get to by bus. 1 day deb wants to try and get into a studio audience for a tv show. Thers 6 days without trying. Bus shuttle to next hotel in anh, thinking of carrosel inn. Ive said 4 days disney, now with the 2 parks, because we dont have to stay in all day and can whatever else in area, walking. 1 day knots berry farm, i loved this place when here last. 2 days down time do what ever cant be on the go for a straight 30 days, deb needs down time in between, then we can enjoy everything more, and we might have shaved that to 1 day down time. Then at this point i have said i want to come down south, for 1 day seaworld, 1 day zoo 1 day catching up with ncccoder, planning on staying at dana on mission bay, once again walk or shuttle bus. On to vegas, how not sure yet bus train or plane, 1 day hoover dam and relax, 1 day big heli tour to grand caynon, 1 day south part of strip, 1 day north part of strip, 1 day whatever.hotels we are looking at are mid way on strip, paris balleys ny ny mirage shuttle to airport, fly to hawaii. Shuttle to hotel, 1 day to the polynesian village, 1 day to pearl h never been there and have been to hawaii 3 times, 3 days relax enjoy and do whatever, before coming home to the rat race again. We have to whole days flying, and unfortunatly we have stop over in sydney just for the night which kills another 1. Now go for it and tell me what i can do better and anythings im doing wrong, so i can make this trip as memorable for Deb as possible, i know you lot wont steer me wrong. Ive had a car offered to us in LA thankyou, we will definately consider, a bike in san d thankyou we are definately planning ( the issue i have is no gear not lugging that weight over with us ) and planning to hire a bike in vegas for a day. Thanks to all for input will definately help us plan a better trip.:D

I have gear if you're near my size. Depending on time of year you can explore some of the desert. We have Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 4x4.
Got Icon knee and shin gear for under jeans and extra large protective jackets and gloves.

Let me know....

+1 coming over with empty suitcases. As you will probably end up with more clothes than you started with.

Getting from San Diego to Vegas I strongly suggests flying. It's a one hour flight, and you should get a very competive rate if booked a month or two in advance. You will want to fly Southwest Airlines, they have a flight departing from San Diego to Vegas every hour. Lowest fare I see is $59 USD one way.

If you rent a motorcycle here in Vegas, you can also rent gear. A reminder, you can rent BMW's or Harleys.

Late April - May Congratulations, you have missed the gigantic crowds.

That tour place you said to talk to about the heli wont deal with us over the internet, they want us to call, so ill have to work out time differences. Is the big one really worth the money cause it works out to 700 each, im more than willing to pay it if it is worth it.

Which tour are you looking at? No tour is worth $700, or is that $700 AUS?

Let me know what kind of tour you're interested, and I can do the leg work for you. I assume that you at least want to land at the bottom of the Canyon and go on a boat ride up the river. Is the Skywalk important? The stuff at the top of the Canyon is so so. The real breathtaking beauty is the aerial view from the helicopter and landing at the bottom, smelling that air, etc.

You can hold off on reserving the tour out to the canyon, I'll help you firm it up about a month away from your arrival to Vegas. Since I know what tour you are interested, that will help in getting the best price.

The Imperial Palace is located right in the center of the strip. Great location, within walking distance to just about everything you want to do on the strip. It's one of the older hotels, so it's not as flashy and glamourous as the other properties.

Be sure to constanty check the availabiltiy of hotels around this time, as we have a couple more properties opening up next month. One is a massive 7 billion dollar project called "City Center" which will have a couple of new hotels too. Kind of on the higher end, but with a couple of thousand more hotel rooms becoming avialable, the prices could drop around the entire area.

What are you going to do if you find a new gig and can't get the time off?

New job will have to work around trip, life is more important than work, i will be upfront and they say i wont be able to have the time i wont take the job. There could be a snag with the ride, we have planned the trip around it but, we took travel insurance out, then sat down and read it and found it will not cover us riding motor bikes, so could be a problem.
