Getting Ragged on by my friends.

I came from a Suzuki Intruder to the FZ6. I still ride with my cruiser friends and there is always friendly banter.

I am now getting e-mails from people I have never heard of asking if I am looking to buy a Suzuki 1400 Intruder. Some of the bikes are really nice.

I will keep this for a season and then make my mind up.

Its nice not to have to wash the FZ6 every time it rains.

If people that have r6's are raggin on ya for havin an FZ, they're just jealous that they weren't smart enough to conisder comfort, price, and such when they got their bike. They're also probably jealous that the FZ looks badass.

i had a ZZR 250 Ninja , it was a great bike,,,twincam ,twin cyclinder with 8 valves is a very technological engine,,,because of that up until 2008 they didnt even change one part from the bike for 16 years...the 2008 design is more like the ZX series which is even better..
i think there is nothing to make fun of on the ninja....but there is one bike that i could make fun of,,,which is CBR 125...that bike is a joke,,,,if you havent take a look at one,,im asking you to go to a honda dealership and check the rear wheel out

there is absolutely no reason to design a "sportbike" looking bike with 14.6 horsepower engine...Honda should have come with a CBR 250 instead which would have been a competition for ninja 250 and hyosung gt250....i think its a ridicilous bike....its my opinion :Sport:

You outta try parking a 250 Ninja along side a row of Harley's and listen to the comments you get. At the mine I work at, metric bikes are definately the minority. I took a lot of heat last year for my little ninja. Any time one of the Harley riders asked me when I was going to buy a real bike, I always came back with the same reply: "I'm not, I need something more reliable." Then all hell would break loose. The rice burner, non-american comments would come out. It all boils down to just buying what you want, just as long as your on two wheels. At the end of the day, I'll ride home along side of any of them, and they would do the same for me. MATT

While I agree the Harley image is alive and well fear not as riding a "girls bike" Sportster gets them up tight too. Now on my third Sporty I can tell you them BT folks can be some real jerks. Problem is when they find out the girls bike is faster, has a better fuel range and doesn't have near the problems in hot weather there isn't much left for them to talk about. Now, you could always ask them when they're going to by a bike that actually handles the twisties without leaving body parts and that may get their attention.......

Tolgatt, I don't know what they're offering in Ontario but pictured below is the US version of the CB125 which hasn't been around for years. Now, I will tell you that as a parent and now, a grand parent, I miss the hell out of bikes like this because the smallest thing you can get is a 250 and that's about 125cc more than the kids need to acquire some solid skills with a limited hurt factor. By the time my grand kids hit the street they will have been in the dirt for years on bikes of 125cc and less. The move to the street will be equally as gradual and used will be the order of the day. Because of there dirt skills the likes of the 250cc machines out there will serve them well but a 125 would for me do the trick even better. You don't need power to learn skills and in fact one would be better off without it. So to me, there is every reason to have some sort of 15hp street bike and preferably in the standard format. I would however like to see a picture of this thing they are now calling a CB125.

HavBlue , im with you on this,,,the picture that you posted ,the CB125 is a perfect bike for young beginners,,,i pretty much grew up , riding very similar bikes including a honda cg125 titan,,,that was something similar to CB125,possibly the same engine....but the bike im talking about is the one in the picture im attaching....it is CBR 125R....it was introduced in 2005 in europe and i think last year it was introduced to canada....i didnt know that this bike is not in USA....they better not bring it

You also have to realize that some people just want the look of a sportbike and the gas mileage of a moped. so that bike may just fit that small niche. looks cool at least.

OK, now I've got it. Yeah, I can see what you mean. Did you know Yamaha has jumped on that road too? Here is a picture of there YZF-R-125. I'm told they are actually racing these things in there own class but I don't know where because we won't even see them.

After 42 years of riding at the time I purchased the FZ6 with zero tickets and like two accidents that weren't my fault the best I could do on the R1 was right at $1,000 and the R6 was a bit over $800 annually. As it is the FZ6 is 60% more than the Harley and the Harley is twice the money and engine size.

I ride with guys on just about every kind of motorcycle. I have caught some crap from some of them.....especially the harley guys. They always tell me that harleys use powerful motors and make more horse-power tham i can handle. So, the next time we all went riding i got a printout showing that the motor used in just about all harleys, the 1450cc, puts out 50 horse-power at best. The fz puts out close to 100 stock. Also, the same harley evo motor wasnt upgraded for 20 years where the fz gets upgrades every other year or so.


I am not trying to argue just thought i would share.

over winter break i went to Costa Rica and drove all over the country. Those little 125's are EVERYWHERE. I saw a father driving one with his kid on the handlebars and his wife and infant on the back.

No, I not making it up. Whats worse they were on the main friggen highway through San Jose. There wer literally dozens of those bikes to each car, and there were a lot of cars! The really weird part is 5 only saw maybe 5-10 "real" bikes, and they were in the high $ part of town.

Holy Cr**! Thats pretty close. The bikes cost less than 1G down there and they get incredible mileage....when they dont have 4 times the load limit on them

I have to admit, I almost rented one to get my riding jones but the roads are spine killers down there.
