Clear skies, in the 80's, a full stomach of Mexican food, out of the office for a few minutes and I get lit up. 48 in a 30, and the worst part, the ticketing officer was a Cleveland Metroparks Ranger - I had stumbled across the 5 miles of jurisdiction this guy has.

Took my roommate out to lunch for his birthday - after lunch we decided to squeeze a ride in before going back to work, him on his Aprilia RSV-R - me on the FZ. We rode out and back in the metroparks, which have beautiful, wide open roads, no traffic and apparently a 30 mph speed limit. Whoops. The ride out was great, un-eventful, long sweeping turns that the bike wants to hit in high 2nd to mid 3rd gear. Turned around and headed back, buddy turned off onto an intersecting street to go home, I continued straight and not half a mile after we parted ways and I gunned the throttle I see a white charger sitting in the bushes on the left. Brakes hard - yep - that's a cop car - car starts to pull out as I pass - turned onto the nearest side street, killed the engine, off with gloves and helmet and hold out the ID/Insurance.

He'd seen (or heard) us pass by a few minutes prior, so was waiting when I came back. I blame the 1000cc v-twin and arrow pipes on that, but oh well.

I really don't know if he was more lenient on me because I cooperated or not - or if he even used the radar - but yeah - looks like I'll be making a $177 donation to the metroparks.

I feel your pain! I got one Sunday in the cage tho, it had been so long sice I got a ticket that I cant remember....maybe 10 years ago:eek:

I have yet to be pulled in my 30,000+ miles of street motorcycle riding so far. I am very careful about where I speed though and never speed in unfamiliar areas but maybe I'm also just lucky so far.

Hey, at least you got to have some fun on lunch hour!

If he was lenient, he would have given you a ticket for something else. 18 over is a 4 pointer in NJ, which kills insurance rate for the next 40 months. :(

No idea how it works in your neck of the woods.

LOL. I've gotten pulled over once on my bike, for speeding. The officer gave me a ticket for inadequate licence plate light. No points. THAT was lenient

Me too, for speeding and "inadequate time spent during lane changes"! :don'tknow: << I went over three lanes to take an exit from the freeway so he could pull me over. HAHA!

Anywho, he was nice and I got a verbal only, no points and none of this ->

Never a fun time to give your cash away like that. I had a few violations in the 1980's, and even documented the ones in the 90's:

Date Amount City Violation

12/12/91 $80.00 Providence Imp.Turn/Mustang
12/19/91 $67.00 A.A.D. Spd 6-10/Mustang
06/01/92 $95.00 A.A.D. Spd 1-5 /CB650
10/31/93 $69.00 A.A.C. Inspectn/Mustang
02/01/96 $70.00 A.A.C. Brk.Lane/CB650
10/08/96 $10.00 Prv.Mun.Crt Parking/Langdon

Looks like you learned something along the way!

Do you guys have traffic school to erase the infraction?

Safety courses are usually good for 2-point reduction when it comes to your driver's license. When it comes to insurance though.. they give you a small deduction, but they don't *erase* the violation. Premium will still likely be quite a bit higher for 40 months.

I do wonder how much that varies from state to state.

I have a Solid book on speeding tickets and let me tell you he did you no favors...

I have had my license suspended due to points.

Some should take into account the time of day and how bad traffic is.

But no it's all about he money to feed those starving felons in prison, oh and pad their Wallets.

Geesh. In CA completion gets if OFF your record, and insurance doesn't even know about it. It's bunch of B.S. if you ask me... a lot of these tickets for red light camera violations, rolling stop sign, handicap parking violations, even a good number of DUI arrests, and more. In CA (unlike most of US states), for example, trailer and semi-trucks are not supposed to exceed 55MPH but ALL these types here go with the flow of traffic of 65MPH(+) but, if you're a professional truck driver and get a ticket, it's a major blemish for your career. I know society has to set limits for safety but, lately, it seems more motivated by cash revenue for attorneys, local juisdictions.
