Heated glove burns

Had to crank my Sedici heated gloves to *high* today. Long-ish ride to NY and it was quite cold out.

The photo was taken several hours after ride.. those spots are not going away. Real burns (minor, but still sucks)

The tourmaster ones are yet to burn me. Apparently they have thermoregulators to prevent constant heating. Once it reaches a desired temp, it regulates itself to keep it instead of continuous heating.

Thats terrible. Yours must be a high wattage than mine, on high I could still get a chill.

Maybe try wearing super thin thinsulate glove liners to prevent the burn.

I'll see if there's enough space for liners, but they fit me well as is.. meaning liners may make them too tight.

Oh and you really shouldn't browse the forum while you're riding! JK

The only thinsulate liners I ever saw were the ones that my ski gloves had. Obviously even if thin they would add an extra layer and make the gloves perhaps not as comfortable.

Have you considered adding the wind protectors to your bars?

Perhaps they would allow you to keep the heat settings down a little.

Yeah Eric that's extreme man, I thought mine slightly zapping me at high rpm was bad. Is it only highway? Try a higher gear?

Just remembered you don't have a real heat controller right? Maybe that's part of the issue? It might do a better job than an in glove resistor?

Not sure how that would work.. gloves have 3 settings and you turn them on/switch settings right on gloves themselves. I'll definitely ask about these gloves next time I'm at CycleGear.

If it can burn your hands, I would be worried about the glove catching on fire.

Take 2 jiffy pops and call me in the morning. If the smell is a problem, try rubbing your hands in garlic and oil before venturing out.

This is what I'm saying. I have to believe there's something going on with controller. They feel fine most of the time, but now and then again it feels like they cycle on and just STAY on.

Your safety gear is trying to kill you! Avoid Cycle Gear house brand gear (Sedici, Bilt) like the plague. I found that out very quickly.

Most of the stuff is cheap/flimsy for sure. Some of it does work well. I'm very happy with their 2-piece rain suit and the reflective vest (it IS falling apart, but I know they'll give me a replacement without hassle).

I wish my First Gear heated gloves would work so well. I always use the highest setting on the controller and kinda wish they would heat up still more...but not too much as yours! My best advice: move to SoCal

Get remote controller and put remote in some convenient location so you can easily reach it.

Me&My wife are using firstgear dual controller:
Firstgear (dual link doesn't work).

FirstGear is only branding those. Real manufacture is Warm and Safe:

If remote goes deadly dead and can't communicate with main unit, there is a fail safe: after connecting main controller to power source it sets heating to 30%. You will still probably get cold but not freeze.
