I decided to get a 530 48T rear sprocket to give a little umph.
My only question I haven't found specifically answered is,
Do I need a longer or shorter chain If I just go up 2 teeth in the rear only?
I am buying a sprocket for a 530 chain, I think like stock, with 2 more teeth than stock. I am keeping the front sprocket and don't know if I can re-use the oem chain. My bike is 2007 with 5500mi. Thanks in advance!

2 more teeth on the sprocket will tie up two more links on the chain. If you wanted to make absolutely sure, go ahead and order a chain with 2 more links than the OEM length. That would make your current rear wheel position on the swingarm nearly identical to what would be required after the change in rear sprocket.

There is likely enough adjustment range in the swingarm to move the rear wheel forward far enough to get the required amount of slack..... The wheel's position in the adjuters would move about the length of one link, as the distance would be divided in 2 from the upper and lower runs of chain.
