I finally hit 70k Miles!
i-8qNDnK8-S.jpg
Going from 60k to 70k miles took me two years because I stopped commuting as much.

2007 FZ6 -- original owner -- lots of tires, front brakes, chain and sprockets (once at 45k miles), two clutch cables, 1 battery, 2 air cleaners, bunch of oil changes... that's it. still runs and looks like new (always garaged), not a scratch on it.

I just replaced the spark plugs for the first time! The old ones had huge gap, but had good color...

I still haven't adjusted the valves yet....ever.

best advice I can give is:
I could get up to 11k on Bridgestone Batlax tires until I switched to Michelin Street Pilot's which get me 19k miles.
EBC brake pads last longer
use OEM Chain and Sprockets (got 45k miles before I replaced em, i'm still running on second set)

Nice. I also use Michelin SP. I used ContiMotion's before, they are good for the money, but wear unevenly and sooner.
No valves done ever? Wow, they probably out of specs now. Do you feel any difference or sound on how the engine works? I wonder if out of specs valves give any feedback or warnings.

I plan on adjusting the valves soon.... the bike runs and sounds fine, but the MPG has gone down from 46 to about 40. hopefully I won't burn a valve by putting it off.. we will see.

I replaced mine over the winter. It wasn't as bad but I had my bike torn down so it was a good time to do it. I think I was at 36.5k.

Thought I'd get that logged while I'm waiting to wax the Triumph. It rolled over the 50k mark somewhere in Holland last weekend. It's a 2006 FZ6N, bought in 2013 as maybe the fifth owner, at 9,800 miles. Oil, oil filter, air filter every 6000 miles, sparks every 12,000. Chain and sprockets lasting approx 18,000-22,000 miles. Still getting 50-55(UK)MPG. She's starting burning a little more oil in the last 10,000 or so, but not enough to get my knickers in a bunch over.

Major stuff:
Clutch friction plates changed at 18,000 miles. I don't know if it was previous owners or it being my first bike (or a combination of both) that took them out quickly. But the replacement have lasted well for 32,000 miles and have barely needed adjusting, so i assume they'll last a lot longer.

Valve clearances checked at 26,000 miles. No adjustment needed. I've not bothered at 50,000 as there's no change in the engine.

Steering bearings are crap. Changed at 18,000 now changed every two years as a matter of course.

Reg/rec went at about 40,000. Easy to replace, got a non Yamaha one for £80.

End of 2014, in to mid 2015 I went through three or four sets of rear wheel bearings. I still don't know why. But since then I've gotten in to the habit of taking the wheel off every now and then and changing the grease. Fingers crossed, nothing since.

Upgrades
Went mad with the gold bits off of ProBolt.

Put a GPR Ghost exhaust in this Easter.

Have put 10w fork oil in the front end. Still not sure how I feel about it.

Nice!

I've put a little over 10k miles on mine in the six months I've owned it. Two more years to catch up to you folks! (although the bike itself is almost to 30k now)

Hello All, I'm still here, I do look in from time to time.....

Finally, I've got there to the 50,000 miles.
I have owned my Fazer since end of 2008 when I first learned to ride, and got it with 3700 miles in the clock.

Just got back from a 5 day, 1200 mile trip from UK to Germany, through, France, Belgium and Luxembourg.

IMAG2005.jpg

A few months ago I did EBC brake pads front and rear and the steering head bearings, plus another set of Dunlop Roadsmart 2 tyres and then 2 weeks before the trip, oil&filter, air filter, coolant and a clutch cable, all ready for the trip, so I thought.......

So, 5 days before the trip, I'm out for a short ride the make sure everything is OK after the servicing and I get the check engine light on with Error 46 !!!! First thoughts were, OK the original battery has finally given up, nope, on checking voltages, there wasn't any charging and the 3 phase AC voltages were all over the place, the stator was burnt out..... :( Mad dash around I sourced a new Stator, Rectifier/Regulator (wasn't going to chance it) and a battery for good measure and got it all back together with a day to spare.....

Anyway, with new electrics and service items replaced it was a dream to ride again, much more responsive and even more efficient, returning and average 55 MPG (imp) 46MPG (US)

The FZ6 has served me well, it's not the cleanest and tidiest it could be anymore but does everything I ask of it, it is a truly great bike

Regards Senior
