And at first I thought it was this bright yellow ATV doing 100kph down the Sherwood Park Freeway towards me when it past by me when I realized...

Didn't think nothing of it until I saw it again last night; the guy was riding 2-up down Jasper Ave. Tough to get used to seeing this thing on the streets.

Saw one with 2-up in Bowling Green about a week ago. It was the same color too. No doubt those folks were having a good time.....

Yeah, I've really wanted to demo one of those. I don't think I'd like to own it, but it looks fun to ride.

The nice thing about them is they offer an option to those that may not be well suited to the two wheeled world yet want that same relative freedom. Diehard bike buffs put the Spyder down right from the start but they often forget there are those who would like to ride yet never got a handle on two wheeled machines. No doubt the machine is a spin off of the snowmobile but it's an eye catcher and to me has fun written all over it.

If you're a canyon carver, it's not a good ride. If your a tourer and ride the slab a lot, it's perfect. Do some youtube searches for non-Can Am vids and check out the cornering of this rig.

I followed one here as it entered a diminishing turn on-ramp that I normally take at about 45. The guy had a hard time at 30 mph to make the corner.

I intend to test drive one anyway if it is ever available at the dealer. It's typically out on a ride when I get there and a few more signed up ahead of me. Wonder if they do "Call ahead seating" ??? :rof:

I saw one going down the freeway, interesting looking. also there's one at the dealer I've been spending so much time at. they say it's $15,000, claim it really boogies along. it has the rotex 990 in it. the brakes are linked (no front brake lever) the tires are more car then bike. you don't need a class M to operate it but all motorcycle laws apply to it.(you can take the carpool lane without a passenger) looks a little wide for lane splitting though

As for cornering FZ6inNH, they are very impressive as is the T-Rex. The problem is you have to get the biker mentality out of you and use the machine more like a snowmobile or 4 wheeler as there will be a good deal of countersteering involved as opposed to lean angle. in a similar vein, last night i ran across one of these driving along west 11th st in New York City. Guy was rolling with a gallardo too...not too shabby. Looks like a pretty fun toy, but it almost makes me say, why?

actually you don't need a class M. back in the early 1980s the USCA managed to get the California Department of Transportation (CalTrans) and DMV to agree that sidecars are three-axle vehicles weighing under 6,000 pounds. In the California Vehicle Code such vehicles are listed among those that can be operated with just a Class C driver license—a regular automobile license. With an endorsement by the CHP the agreement became vehicle code and still stands today. the spyder and T-rex fall into this category.
two wheels = class M
three wheels = class C
if all you had was a class M and were stopped while riding the Spyder you would get a ticket for riding out of class. just though you'd like to know. :thumbup:

This will please all of us who agree with a universal helmet lobby. But, (poor grammer I know) The UK Nanny state will allow you to ride it without a helmet.
