Hey Taz....yes i have forgotten your name! What do you know about this joint....
Country Club - Tasmanian Classic Touring
Has just had a big write up in Australian Road Rider this month...
Am thinking we may need a couple of "bases"...somewhere we can leave our gear, and come back to at the end of each days ride...so we dont have to lug the kitchen sink wherever we go!
Or maybe some suggestions for a couple of decent spots to use as a "base" for some decent riding!
It's Gerard but I don't mind being called most things. Country Club would be a good base for the Northern stay of your trip, Launceston is smack bang in the middle of everything up there and their touring routes sound ok. You probably would get away with 2 bases, one North and one South. But if I were you I'd stay atleast one night on both the East and West Coast. There are plenty of places to stay at in both Strahan and Queenstown in the west. Strahan is a little less of a bogan paradise. On the east there are plenty of places to stay, look for accom in Bicheno, St Helens or Swansea.
In Hobart I'd stay close to the waterfront, it's expensive but you will get a beautiful view and you can walk to Salamanca, city etc. Hotel Grand Chancellor, Quest Hotel, Henry Jones, Sullivans Cove apartments. Or you can come out to the Northern Suburbs where I am and stay at the Moorilla Pavillions, which is set on a winery/brewery
My place is always available for gear if needed when in Hobart.
