Brand New Rider from Maryland!

Calm down, everyone!! :D

MG was just being sarcastic when he asked what BRC was (as he's been a MSF rider coach for something like 94 years now.. in addition to being a coach on track and a racer, etc, etc  )

And I'm sure when mnuttall87 said "I'm guessing", he wasn't really guessing.. he knows it's the Basic Rider Course and didn't know MG was asking jokingly.

Thanks, Eric. Maybe not quite 94 yrs but it feels like a lot sometimes ;). That was actually my demented way of opening up the discussion for the BRC. Or, for any rider training\education for that matter. The basic course teaches you more than the basics. It begins to lay the foundation for good habits that just might save your butt someday. I know many of us wish they had something similar 'back in the day' when we started riding. Our knowledge grew from trial and error which didn't always work out. Can you imagine learning to ride and no one knowing anything about counter steering? That's how it was. You just lean the thing. Really.

So, take a class, any class. There's tons of them out there and not only MSF based. The more tools you have in your tool belt, the better for that day when the unexpected happens. Like the MSF motto - 'the more you know, the better it gets"

Enjoy the ride

Welcome man,

I am a new owner also (just posted my own thread), but I have been riding for a couple of years and I do live in Maryland. I am just south of Baltimore (but I don't mind traveling elsewhere) feel free to hit me up if you have any questions or if you want to go for a ride!

~Matt
