Cheap chinese helmets siezed in UK

In the UK this week there was a shipment of inferior chinese helmets siezed by trading standards, as they didn't have the required standard, here's the story.
Well on the visor down website I found this vid showing what a difference there is in protection, I must admit I found it shocking

I've heard a lot of cases where riders died as the result of head injury while wearing what here is referred as, "Novelty Helmets". I imagine where there are helmet laws there must be a minimal requirement of SNELL/DOT but you would have to stop each rider to view the certification. I guess there would be no law against selling novelty helmets in a state that has no helmet law at all.

I'll stick with my DOT/SNELL

Oh My GOD! I would have never expected there to be such disintegration of anything sold as a helmet. That is criminal!

Motorcycle helmets in the UK need to meet either UK BS kite mark, or european standards. Decent helmets will have an ACU gold sticker on too (which is required for racing)

Yeah, mine is and off brand and DOT/Snell rated so I hope you're wrong. I think about it from time to time...
