Exhaust, whats the deal?

Alright, with all the manufactures of exhaust out there im curious whats the overall best and whats the best in each of the next catagories: power, sound, cost, looks. Ok and one more question, well really its a 2 part question but im not splitting hairs here. Are there any of the exhaust manufactures that include a cat eliminator pipe, and if not who makes the cat eliminator pipe? I dont want to just smash my cat out since if i ever have to swap it back i dont want to have to pay for a new cat.

Wavex recently posted a German article that reviewed about 10 different exhaust systems. Use the search feature to find it. Yeah its a PITA but it is out there.

Bottomline YOU are going to have to decide what is important to you. Cost, looks, sound, loudness, performance, etc...no one can do that for you.

Love my Two Brothers Racing exhaust. I have aluminum. They're cheaper than titanium and I don't worry about burn out when the bike's on the dyno if they were carbon fiber. They're loud and you can buy the Db killers. I love the way they look They have really nice magnesium angled tips.

There are so many great aftermarket cans out there. As far as the cat. pipe, a lot of companies offer full exhaust kits from the head on out but I don't know what companies offer that. The other issue might be if you open the exhaust and include getting rid of the cat you might want to get a Power Commander or Juice Box because it will effect low end torque when you open the back end up that much. Top end will be fine but low end will be effected. When I first got my exhaust (cans only) the only difference I noticed was during warm up. It seemed to run a little lean but after it was warm it was good.
Later I did some other modding and got the Power Commander PClll and got the bike dyno'd. Big difference in power in every rpm range as well as healthier air to fuel ratios.

Just cans and you don't have to spend all that money. If you're considering getting rid of the CAT then I would count on spending at least another $700 for a PClll and dyno to make it all work together.
One thing for sure this stuff isn't cheap, and to most, the worth of these mods is relative.

Thanks for the feedback so far everyone, but here is what im after. I know that it will ultimately be up to me to pick what i want from an exhaust, but i was looking for what people had and why they liked it. Also what is the most popular exhaust out there that people are running? As far as sound goes, ive never heard any aftermarket exhausts for these bikes before, except for on videos, and i dont think that is a very good representation of what the exhausts sound like. As far as needing a PCIII if i did a cat eliminator too, im not opposed to getting a power commander and in fact it was on my list of mods for the future, but is it really necessary on the 07 and up bikes?

Just like nccoder, I also have the 2BrosTi and the sound rocks. Definitely a head turner with the way it sounds, recently I installed a PCIII map that I got from here and just today on my way in to work my colleague mentioned how my bike sounds so much different now. He commented that "it sounded more like a race bike" than it did before, figured it's related to the new map on the PCIII. I recommend the DB killers if you're going with 2Bros. YouTube videos or any video site doesn't do justice to any of the aftermarket exhaust.

I was almost run off the road this Sunday by a guy asking me about my exhaust. Told me it looked like his Ducati. I don't think it does, but I do like the Leo's. I did not notice any earth shattering difference after the PCIII was dynoed, but it did seem to run smoother.

I'm still stock exhaust for now, but something I have noticed when comparing the different brands is the different types of y-sections they have. Someone made a thread on it a long time ago. IIRC, the scorpions and 2 bros are made like a single pipe with muffler then the extra pipe is welded on the side, where a couple other brands (I think it was Devil and Akrapovic) are made so the path to the two mufflers is equal length, like a Y instead of l-' if you can understand my ASCII cave drawings. I wish I could get the Akrapovic Y pipe with the new Scorpion cans, that would be my ideal setup. I'll see if I can find the thread, it had real pictures and explained it much better.

I have the Leo Vince exhaust with the cat delete and I am super happy with it. I still have yet to get the a power commander for it but I noticed a bit of a difference.

Alright, i think ive narrowed it down to 2 different exhausts that i am looking at. Im thinking either the Two Brothers or the Akrapovic. i was looking at the Leo Vince, but i really dont like the look of the exit cone, looks too stock to me. Now im picking these from a purely visual standpoint, i have never heard these before but would like some input on the pros and cons to them both. i know that the 2 bros is pretty popular on here, but ive heard good things about the akrapovic.

Well this thread got me thinking about exhausts again. I always liked the Devils, but preferred the cone-type tip the M4/new Scorpions/2 bros have as opposed to the water hose opening the old Scorpions and Devils and some others have. I was looking for a picture of the Y-pipe that I was talking about earlier and figured I'd look on Devil's site to see if they showed it. It didn't, but what it DID show is that they too changed the type of muffler they are using. They seem to be keeping up with the times and now have a cone-type muffler instead of the water hose. Still a little more than the Scorpions at $689.00 for Carbon, but not bad compared to some of the other brands. I think I may have found my choice when I get around to buying an exhaust...

I just got a set of M4's and they are insanely loud. I had to get some new tips added to them so I could ride the bike home from work at 1-2 in the morning and not have extremely angry (and awake) neighbors after me.

The sound clip the makers of M4 released is extremely extremely accurate on the sound, you just need to connect your computer to a stereo system and crank it RIIIIGHT up. Looking on youtube for videos of what they sound like is the best idea in this regard.

As others have said, its up to you to make the final decision
