Hey Folks

Sorry if this in the wrong spot, but I had a look at some other threads and felt this was the best one despite it being a well worn subject, I felt it might be worth some new input.

Basically I dropped my 04 FZ6 (silver/grey/blueish/purpley colour) backing it out my back yard, it hit the gate post and put a nice dent in my tank.

Anyone know anywhere in Leeds/Yorkshire/North East/Newcastle that would be able to repair this, specialistdents.co.uk in Malton say they can't.

Alternatively where is the cheapest place to get a new/replacement tank, A.J. Sutton is the only place in the UK I can find and the want over £800 which seems steep as seem to be available in the US for around £4-500.

Any help/info/advice/consolation/abuse would be greatly appreciated.

That's a weird link, all kinds of screens pop up. Anyway, I got a glimpse of your tank before jettisoning all the new windows. Yeah, looks bad! I don't know about repair but wouldn't, if it's possible, be much cheaper?

That sucks...tough call too..
i would wait until off season (if you have one) take the tank off, and remove the fuel pump.
Then take it to a body shop and see what they say..
bikes are usualy so small (in their minds) that its more of a pain to deal with for them, but you may be able to get them to do it for you on the cheap..if you willing to wait..
of course a new(er) tank would be easy, but that could be more expensive.

Hey guys thanks for all the responses.

I'm going to investigate repair, so would love to hear from anyone in Yorkshire/North of England who can recommend a good body shop/bike repair place.

In the mean time I think I'm going to get a Bagster tank cover (some great offers on ebay) to hide my shame at damaging such a beautiful line, and then I can keep the cover to protect the repair or new tank.

Apologies for the pop ups on Imagaeshack, i didn't see any so, might I suggest something like noscript or adblocker not just for that but to stop pop ups in general.
