How to replace license plate with two bros f/e kit

As the title says. How do you do this?? I just got a new license plate because my old one got bent. I went down to put it on and find I can't get the old one off by simply unscrewing the bolts behind it! Please don't tell me I have to start unattaching wires and zip ties. I thought the 2 little tag lights would just unscrew and the plate would come off but when I try to unscrew them it just twists the wires.

Pictures really arnt needed. Anyone with a two brothers fender eliminator kit on their bike should be able to answer this...

The question is simple - how do I remove the license plate from the f/e so I can put my replacement license plate on the f/e?
