While wiping drool off my keyboard reading about the new KTM RC8-R (see below), I got to think, which super bike would you get if you were in the market for one..

Gotta be the r1, little bit of brand loyalty though, only ever ridden Yamaha's, 5 so far and still counting!

RSV4......closest thing ever to a racebike for the road, best traction control package, etc, and dead sexy!

The BMW for me, but I'm 6'5" and have heard the KTM's are hideously expensive to maintain... :(

the ducati looks promising, though i don't think it's been shipped yet. The RSV4 would also be awesome, especially with the V4 howl.

nice as the r1 is, i think i'd have to go for somethign italian :D

I went CBR1000. It falls in a sweet spot where it checks all the major boxes for me...

- Looks are unified and toned-down, not trashy gixxer / lasers / sharks / ninjas. No Z's and X's and RRRRRRRRR's all over it, just 1 or 2 colors total, a black roundel wing logo on the tank, nice solid sides and smooth lines, almost BMWish in its unity. Looks like an adult's bike, not a kid's, to me.
- Ease of use is reported to be excellent... easy to control, predictable, somewhat forgiving ergo's that could then be tweaked further.
- Japanese reliability. I like their engineering, even if I usually don't like their visual design.

Voted for the BMW. Test rode it and its awesome. ABS and traction control.
Riding is fun, but I like the idea the computer corrects my errors. Not depending on it, but you never know.
