I'm a bad American and love it...

A USMC buddy of mine sent this my way and I thought it to be pretty good.

I Am the Liberal-Progressives Worst Nightmare. I am an American. I believe the money I make belongs to me and my family, not some Liberal governmental functionary be it Democratic or Republican!I'm in touch with my feelings and I like it that way! I think owning a gun doesn't make you a killer, it makes you a smart American. I think being a minority does not make you noble or victimized, and does not entitle you to anything. I believe that if you are selling me a Big Mac, do it in English. I believe everyone has a right to pray to his or her God when and where they want to. My heroes are John Wayne, Babe Ruth, Roy Rogers, and whoever canceled Jerry Springer. I don't hate the rich. I don't pity the poor. I know wrestling is fake and I don't waste my time watching or arguing about it. I've never owned a slave, or was a slave, I haven't burned any witches or been persecuted by the Turks and neither have you! So, shut up already. I believe if you don't like the way things are here, go back to where you came from and change your own country! This is AMERICA. If you were born here and don't like it you are free to move to any Socialist country that will have you. I want to know which church is it exactly where the Reverend Jesse Jackson preaches, where he gets his money, and why he is always part of the problem and not the solution. Can I get an AMEN on that one? I think the cops have every right to shoot your sorry rear if you're running from them.. I also think they have the right to pull you over if you're breaking the law, regardless of what color you are. And, no, I don't mind having my face shown on my drivers license. I think it's good..... And I'm proud that "God" is written on my money. I think if you are too stupid to know how a ballot works, I don't want you deciding who should be running the most powerful nation in the world for the next four years. I dislike those people standing in the intersections trying to sell me stuff or trying to guilt me into making "donations" to their cause. I believe that it doesn't take a village to raise a child, it takes two parents. I believe "illegal" is illegal no matter what the lawyers think.

I believe the American flag should be the only one allowed in AMERICA!
If this makes me a BAD American, then yes, I'm a BAD American.

All very good points! :) In a perfect world! :):)

I love the american society and the honour you show your own flag. I envy the guts you have and the respect you show to your flag and everything your country is built on. You respect all those that have died (not those in the current war) to get that flag and all those that uphold that flag (current wars! :)) that are still fighting or have died in the process.

At times I dont like how things are carried out, but its not a perfect world we live in. One's own choice is one's own choice and I'm glad to see that the USA is not going to change anytime soon into another country. (eg: african man in america hasn't changed america into an african country)...looking at ireland...we are changing into something that I dont like and I just wish our country was the Ireland I love and grew up with. I stand by my flag, it brings a tear to my eye knowing what was done and the effort that went into getting that flag flown proudly over our government buildings and now we have irish killing irish in needless murders, and irish disrespecting the flag!!! Many many people lost their lives in that war in 1916, especially the great leader of them all...michael collins.

So god bless your love for your country, lets hope your next president can shed some positive public press out to the world, the USA has suffered enough and the last thing you need is another war that cant possibly be won, only in a perfect world would a war as complex as terrorism be won...

But, so long as you can uphold the integrity of your own country you'll be doing alright.

PS: I actually applied to join the US army, but was told that an Irish guy couldn't join! :( I'm a crack shot, would have made a good sharp shooter.

Well in that case you want to be in a Department of the Navy. Yeah, the men's department where we have standard rifle ranges with targets 500 meters off and we shoot at them with these tiny little 5.56 rounds that travel about 3,000 meters per second out of the muzzle. We don't cheat by using a scope either. Beyond this, when it absolutely positively has to be destroyed overnight, call
1-800-Fly-USMC.........

I agree for the most part. The only minority that I have sympathy for is the Native American who were the only true Americans before we white men came. Before any of you start in on THEM, I'll have you know my wife is Native American.

That aside, I served in the U.S Army during peace time years ago. Proud of it and no regrets!

If you want to be American then live like one and speak English.

Ask your wife if she has ever read a book titled "100 years of Dishonor" by Helen Hunt Jackson. Yeah, the same woman that wrote Ramona. It's a fantastic book but it may currently be out of print although it is available.

Thanks for serving.....

I watched a movie about that guy. There was this one part where he grabbed a piece of turf and said it was a useful weapon.

(Everybody laughed at him at this point)

...uhh...turf burns like a molotov coctail! They used that stuff to pillage a weapon facility and steal rifles for everyone.

"Yeah? And what is it NOW?"

haha, its a good spot in the movie alright Elm, the signature I have in red below is from the movie too! :)

When your desperate for weapons you'll do anything in your power to win. As a good example (rough example mind you), when I was in vietnam in 2003 I saw the weapons the vietnamese used in the early years of the vietnam war (before they built up their weapon numbers). They used bamboo, rotating platforms, rolling pin style traps. All of which took alot of planning and imagination to build...but they did that out of desperation since of course the US army were alot superior in power and technology. Sort of the same situation with the turf! :):) It was a police barracks that they attacked, but only got a few guns from it in the movie.

As an outsider, the USA to me is that of a mixed race country. The true americans for me are of course the native americans, those that followed are the new americans. "New Americans" have come from many many countries such as Africa, Portugal, Spain, United Kingdom, France, Ireland, Mexico...(I wont mention any more since I cant be certain about other countries which landed in the USA!!) Already in that list of countries there are 2296 languages all of which would have been brought to the USA. English is the main language of the USA but its not the only one. I do believe that everyone should have English in order to communicate but speaking another language doesn't mean they are any less American then yourself. Such is the beauty of the saying "land of the free", and "home of opportunities." Embracing other customs but keeping your own alive is the key to success.

The US army knows only too well i'm sure, and as long as English is the common form of communicating to each other then there'll be no problem about working as an efficient team.

very sound concepts, and i agree with them with the only exceptions being when we are hosting visitors from other nations in a political setting, or the olympics.

But if you are living here, be proud of where you are and be greatful that you are here...

In the British army, we called "our" Marines "Bootnecks". (ok..I know that they belonged to the Royal Navy, but at least they wore proper uniforms like us mud pluggers.)

Keira and i went to a house (house hunting) that had been abandoned because the previous tenants had been evicted and there was a tattered flag up on the flag pole and i wanted to take it down, but i am not allowed to and it is pretty far out of the way to go back, First matter of business if we buy that house is to replace it, then move in.
