LCD not displaying on 07 S1

Hi all,

New member, I've just repaired my front headlight loom as there was a break in the right front indicator. When putting back together and testing I've found that the LCD display is no longer working. When I initially connect the two plugs to the display it appears to do a quick POST (all symbols are shown) and I get the same thing when I turn the engine off using the kill switch and then turn the ignition off.

The bike starts fine and the the neutral/oil/engine lights illuminate, though the neutral light is a bit flickery.

Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting? I've got a new loom coming on Tuesday (just in case) but I'm wondering if I've broken or pulled a wire or missed an earthing point.

Try wiggling the wires and see if that helps.

If not, I would check the continuity on the wires that come from under the tank to the cluster and also look for corrosion or loose pins on the connectors.

BTW you say it's an S1, but that was replaced by the S2 after 2006 unless it was late being registered.

Is the display round and all LCD or with a separate analogue rev counter?

The instrument cluster uses a CPU that receives data through a data line. Yellow with a blue tracer wire. There is also a back-up fuse that keeps the clock on time.
Are the directional indicators, high beam indicator, etc coming on with the key? I agree could be a bad connection. You might also check the ECU connector and pins.

Thank you both, it was a bad connection that was remedied by a quick clean with some contact cleaner and fine-grit sandpaper. @grahammarsden it has the all-digital display, with the rev counter being LCD bars going around the cluster. I think that the bike is a late registered bike (it's an 07 bike but has 'FZS-600' on the logbook).
