LMAO @ you both! My wife is amazing when it comes to understanding stupid hobbies! She's the same way. Cycling during Summer (road, mountain and downhill) and snowboarding in the Winter.

Really the only issue with the whole track riding thing is that I will potentially spend even less time with her on bicycles.. but I'm hoping to do most of my track riding on weekdays.. that'll be much better for my marriage!

Downhill biking? That's awesome. I may need your help in getting my feet wet into the sport. I wanted to start doing downhill for few years now.

A bit of cleaning (looks like undertail has never been cleaned.. 1/2" of grease!).. a bit of de-wiring (pulled the tail, signals, plate light).. and few day-light pics

Don't think so. The cheaper way to go would be to just leave everything as is and just add crash protection. (Stock fairing is not perfect.. right side is scratched up).
I don't think I'll be putting race fairing on until I crash this thing. At least that's what I'm thinking for now.

I have no idea! Well .. not entirely true.. just rode it up and down the block to get the feel for clutch and shifting (just 1st and 2nd gear). It's very very smooth. Actually shifts smoother than my FZ1. Friction zone is pretty good.. not as abrupt as FZ6, but not as long as FZ1.

Does any of the above make any difference on the track? Nope :rof:

That's alright, a good deep breath is healthy every once in a while. I will spend some of my winter skiing with my kids and thinking about the next riding season and what mods are in order. But I can't help going into the garage when we have a few inches of white stuff on the ground and find myself staring at the quiet blue FZ6 waiting for the melt.
Regarding the clutch action, the KN clutch mod has made driving so much more pleasurable. I prefer to use two fingers on clutch and keeping the friction zone within the first 1/2" of lever action. The shift into first is still very abrupt, but the rest are very smooth. Is the FZ1 smoother?

FZ1 is night and day, compared to FZ6.
1. Clutch is one of the lightest (in terms of lever pull effort).
2. Friction zone is the longest of any bike I've ever ridden. It starts to grab very close to the bar and progressively feeds more power to real wheel until the lever is almost all the way out (awesome for traffic.. less awesome for quick shifting).
3. Shift from N to 1st is just as rough on FZ1 as it is on FZ6.. no big deal, in my opinion.

Oh and I'll be enjoying snow too.. we snowboard just about every weekend, but honestly I'd rather ride all year round.

I actually just remembered that I can take it out any time I want! I can take it to one of the MSF ranges where I coach! Closed range (and it's actually 2 ranges side by side, so it's a huge closed off lot) :cheer:
