My FZ6 project

The bike has finished. Everything is working just fine but i thing its better to post some picture from my work before i post the bike itself.

You can notice to the previous pictures that the right side of the frame is silver and the left one is black!
You cannot notice that at once but if you have a closer look you can see the left carbon frame cover.
Further information about that you will have the following days.

Im building this bike the last five months only when i have free time.
I don't post that often because i dont have enough time.

I will try to post quick the next photos.

Man, i love what you are doing....please hurry with the photo's, most keento see where you are at!

This is my front fender. It comes from a Gsxr 1000 k7 and is made from polyester. I couldn't find a plastic one so i bought this one for 40 euros and i painted myself.

After building the carbon frame covers i've decided to to paint the swing arm and and the subframe black mat. Of course i didn't use simple paint colour but black electrostatic powder coating. The strength, the thickness and the scratch resistance of this material is excellent!

These are all the parts i had to paint.
As you can see at the next pictures my high tech paint+polyester+carbon laboratory is located to my apartment's roof its too small!
I had to paint three different times!
The first day i've painted all the small parts, the second one the polyester parts (full fairing kit and front fender) and the third day the tank and the mask.

This is my high tech laboratory!

And this is my space technology air compressor!!!
You can see at the right of the picture the special made bracket (ironing table!!!) that i've used to paint the bike's plastics!!

And here are some random pictures before and during the painting.

Believe me, despite the primitive tools that i have used and the very small place without any type of ventilation, the results are perfect!!!
There is no dust on the varnish or anything else.
I was very careful during the paint process and i'm very very satisfied.

fitting before painting.
I had to make sure that the full fairing kit was fitting perfect.
The kit is made from polyester and i didn't wan't to have any fitting surprises after the painting.

this is how i've created the carbon covers.

First, i've bought the material.
I bought 1,5 square meter of carbon fiber tissue and its wait is 265gr per square meter. It cost almost 90 euros plus all the others materials that they were needed for this kind of job.
The total cost was almost 200 euros plus at least 15 days of work!

img00429201001211633.jpg

I had to work on my own frame for this job so i had almost all the bike apart and tried not to get dirty.

This is the cover after the first hand of trimming.
Unfortunately i'm not familiar with the technical words and i cannot explain what i exactly did at this stage.
The covers look pretty bad right know!

The wind screen is from puig and its a little bit longer than i wanted to be and the mirrors are missing because i dont have any!
Im looking to buy a pair of those in ebay and it's a matter of time to have them.

There are some changes and improvements to be done the following days so stay tuned!

Next time i will show you some pictures from the wideband analysis and from what i did for the performance of the bike.

I really would like to know what you think for the bike and i would like your opinion for the color of the wheels. Im thinking of paint them gold.

amazing transformation. I really like the look. I think the gold wheels would look great too. Besides, they'd match the grips.

that is f'n awsome... a carbon wraped frame.. please post up more pictures.. try to get just a bit more light please.. your bike looks amazing!!!

+1 on wanting to see the covers close up! Anyone know if you can also buy these commercially? It'd be a great way for me to hide the legacy scratch from a previous owner on my frame.

Po vre patrida ti ekanes sto mixanaki! Oraios!!!

Only a Greek could do that stuff or else PATENDA ! mouxaxaxa!

Unfortunately you cannot find and buy theme.
I've tried to find someone through the net how sells them but i had no luck.
Then i've decided to build them myself.
It wasn't difficult but it needs a lot of effort and and a lot of time.
I don't thing that i'm gonna try to do it again.
Of course somebody could made a replica from my original handmade parts and put them up for sale but i'm not sure that i want to do such a thing.

... my GOD. This was so much work and you did a great job. And I think gold wheels would look good if you got the color right. Like Marchesini's, almost.

Cool! That only makes the conflicting witness' reports less believeable! : )
Honestly, great work. I am impressed. (I'm surprised that the heat from the fire didn't melt all of your wiring!)
Good luck!
