hey everyone,

wanting to change my oil. last time i got a purolator pl14610 (3.25 inches filter). i have a set of sw-motech engine guards that do a great job of guarding the oil filter. the last filter i had to do the screwdriver method to get it off because i couldn't get a "filter wrench" on it.

this time around i'm thinking about the future. i'm thinking of getting a K&N to make it easier to get the filter off in a few thousand miles. i went into the local auto parts store and cross-referenced the PL14610 and the PL14612 to see what K&N filters matched. just checking with y'all that use K&N's to see if these numbers are right.

3.25" Purolator - PL14610 - K&N - HP-1010
2.5" Purolator - PL14612 - K&N - HP-1008

does that look right?

thanks

I was in this dilemma last summer. Up to and including the 2006 FZ6, the filter is a KN-303. 2007 and up use the KN-204.

And I personally like the Hi Flo Filters. Many reviews of them, and they're cheaper. Can find on ebay for under $10 shipped usually. They use the same part number scheme as K&N, so instead of KN-303 or KN-204, they use HF303 and HF204.
