Overheating Problem-HELP

Here's the story,

A friend with a 2008 FZ6 S2 Naked White (4 months older than mine, bought new from the same dealer and now we have about the same km's, around 2500km)and i went for a ride

The route included a 20 minutes highway on an average speed around 130-140 km/hour and a 10 minutes of heavy traffic.

My bike temperatures on the highway was fine, around 83 °C (181.4 °F)
During the traffic, i was going on first and second gear and the temperature got up to 124 °C (255.2 °F). My friends FZ6 temperature was 99 °C (210.2°F)The red warning light turned on and the temperature on the display was flashing .

I stooped the engine and water from the radiator overflow pipe started to flow ( the green water )

When i turn the key to on, i noticed that the radiator fan was not working.
On my way back everything went ok, with temperatures of 83 °C at 130-140km/h

I am calling the Yamaha dealer tomorrow morning to arrange a check up for my sick beauty.

I think it might be a fuse but i'm not risking it.It's in the warranty so i'm expecting free charge

Should i be wary for anything worse???

Some members with the '07 models and up, have had a small pebble lodged inside the fan, preventing it from spinning and overheating.

Inspect your fan.

If your fan motor burnt up and you find a pebble lodged in there, when you take it to the dealer DON'T MENTION THAT, just tell them "It stopped working".

The motor on my radiator fan was bad from the start. I didn't notice it until the weather got warmer and the bike overheated in traffic a couple of times. The dealer replaced it under warranty at no charge. It seems like a lot of people have had trouble with their radiator fan motors.

I took the bike to the dealer,
The mechanic will check it and he keep her in for the day
If i'm lucky he will call me later today to pick her up

The garage is empty without her,i think i'm about to cry

dont worry, its a minor issue.since you detected the fault, its gonna be fine!

They just called me, it's the fan.
They are going to replace it for free.
BUT IT WILL TAKE 2 WEEKS!!!!!

What am i going to do for 2 weeks????
Any suggestions?

Start looking for a second bike. Then you'll always have at least one to ride (well, not necessarily, but it's more likely).

I lost my fan to a piece of gravel last year ( http://www.600riders.com/forum/fz6-general-discussion/9164-check-your-fan.html)
I was lucky as to still be under warranty. I always give my fan a quick spin before I go out ( safely, with a long handle screwdriver).

Ok , i got the bike back home
The dealer replaced the fan for free as it was in warranty
He told me that the cost of this repair would have been 520 euros

Hope everything will be fine now

I'm experiencing the same issue at this time on my 08 FZ6. I had a pebble stuck between the fan and the radiator and it kept on burning out the fuse. Now, the pebble is out and the bike's fan still doesn't work and the fuse doesn't burn out anymore. Any advice on how to check if the fan's motor is burnt out?

check the service manual, page 8-72, 8-79.

never tried it, but you can put your bike in diagnostic mode (8-37) and turn the fan on (8-42). not sure.
