Another short notice ride! All are welcome.

We'll probably ride the regular stuff unless maybe we do a southern run along the border. Time and meetup is not solidified as of yet depending on turn out etc.

A note to SoCal riders! Don't know if it's my imagination but It seems there is a lot more activity with LEOs on the freeways these days so be prudent. I know speed is just a number on the dial on our machines so it's easy to get to higher speeds without noticing. :D

yea according to friends lots of people are getting tickets. Especially because that poor girl harley passenger died two weekends ago from a super sport crossing lanes :(.

I should be down for a sunday ride. I know luis and nick want to ride sunday.

I heard about the Banner Grade crash. I was sick about it.

Luis is not going to ride Sunday because he's got a busy Saturday night. Have you heard from Nick? Goop is riding.

It's not your imagination! The 15 was covered with LEO's today.

I don't doubt that patrols might be stepped up in the Banner/Julian area as well.

Too many riders going way too fast and riding beyond what they should be on these tighter roads.

What time and were do you want to meet up?

Looks like just the three of us!

I got a ticket out at Borrego two weeks ago! Coming up montezuma just outside of the town. Pullin 74 in a 55. The cop remarked that the suggested speed for the turn he clocked me in was 35 and I couldn't but grin a bit :D

I might try to join you tomorrow. I have to meet people out near mission bay at 12, so I'd probably have to branch off early to make it happen. Ill let you know.

Nick

Where was he sitting? Did you get his name? Bet it was J.Peterson.....Wait....did he look like this??

You know we don't condone breaking the law on this forum....

I think his name was Tracy. Real nice guy! He wasn't sitting anywhere, just driving towards me. Crested a hill right when I was coming out of the turn. Says the radar is on, front and back, constantly. And it can lock onto bikes pretty easy.

Update about tomorrow - Don't think I can make it. Damn! Next time. Too much planned for Sunday already.

We had great weather and great riding! Bryan and I were the only ones that showed up for the ride. We headed toward Anza Borrego via Ranchita and met a few of the locals. One of my favorites is Ray. It's always great stopping in little areas like this a getting to know some of the locals. Bryan and I hung out for a break and talked with the locals. Then we scooted down Montezuma Valley Rd, turned around and railed back up again. We cut over on S2 (San Fillipe Rd.) south toward Banner Grade.

When we hit Banner Grade we got the signal that LEO's would be ahead. Sure enough We passed CHP. Bryan and I turned around because we knew who it was and wanted to say hi.

It was J.Peterson our favorite CHP! This time we weren't being pulled over! LOL! We pulled up and got to share some time with officer Peterson.

Recently a woman, the wife of a rider, married for just 6 months was lost on Banner Grade when her husband lost control of a cruiser in a turn, sliding into oncoming traffic. She was riding pillion. When I heard about this I was heartbroken because I knew the husband would never be the same. I got a few more details from J.P. and I can tell you he's got to go through some tough stuff with his job. I totally respect him as a LEO and a person.

Here's Bryan and J.Peterson.

Here's Ray. We didn't see him at first. I asked the locals if the bees had killed him yet because he has been Life Flighted out of there a number of times because he's really allergic to the bee stings. He finally showed up. :D

That's awesome that you and Bryan stopped to chat with Officer Peterson.
It's funny how our ride from 2 years ago has created this bond to one of our finest CHP's in SoCal who manages to get so much photo time on our forum.
I thought about you guys today as I was putting new front brakes on the FZ...

Ray is a hoot! What a funny guy. He's pretty much the town mayor, and has a story or home remedy for everything :)

Great riding weather today for sure! We ran through some grasshopper swarms. They managed to wedge themselves in every nook and cranny of my bike...took a while to clean up when I got home.

Our favorite CHP was on the prowl! :D I told him Lefty wasn't around to accept a speeding ticket...next time! ;)

I almost forgot about the flying grasshoppers! They are so abundant this year and we have even ridden past Lake Henshaw on the way to Palomar yet.

This is how many flying grasshoppers there are by the lake: So many that bikes slide and crash on the roadway from miles of squished kazillions of these bugs on the road. Miles of them from shoulder to shoulder on Rte 76. We were miles from the water and there were waves of them. If you want to go to Palomar go from the 15 freeway side and not the Santa Ysabel side. You'll get bugged out!

This is what they sorta look like!
