I forgot to mention the gas mileage thing was also another factor in my decision. And yea, that Versys is a naked Kawasaki 650 R with some engine and frame gometry mods... nice bike but I prefer the FZ. I too have had lots of "what is that" questions ZZZZZZZZZINGER

When I was looking at the local bike shop, they had the FZ6 and a Ninja 500 on sale, at my advanced age (55 at the time, 56 now), the FZ6 was way more comfortable and more to my liking, I've never regretted my choice.

it's a Yamaha, almost 100 HP, more upright seating position, somewhat peaky I-4 yet reliable, great styling yet not flashy, and great brakes 4 piston monoblocks....

After deciding to give up my truck for a bike, I was looking at a bike with somewhat upright riding position. At this point, I never have even heard of an FZ. Therefore, I seriously looked into getting a Buell City or Lightning, however the price really turned me off. Then one day as I was walking through a casino parking garage here in Vegas and I noticed a sharp looking Yamaha, and it was a FZ1. I made a mental note of it and checked one out at the dealership. It was then from a salesman that I found out that the FZ also came in a 600cc. However, they didn't have one at the time, so I had no idea what to expect. I called up another dealership and they said they had several in stock, so I showed up 30 minutes before they closed to check one out. All they had was '06's but I didn't care, especially when they said that they could give me a better deal. I was sold, and ended up buying it the next morning. I really liked the price, it was very reasonable at the time. Plus, it had the looks, power and speed, and the same engine as the R6. It was about a month later that I discovered this forum. This forum was a wealth of information in which I had wished that I came across before I bought my bike because after posting up a thread on how much everyone spent on their bikes, I think I paid too much for my '06. I bought mine on the 6th of April of '07. Despite the price, the bike has lived up to my expectations. So for all you members who are thinking about purchasing a FZ6, and are reviewing these threads and doing research about the bike, pat yourself on the back.

First off, I need fairing. At the speeds I like to cruise at a lack of fairing is a real pain in the neck, literally. I liked the honda hornet (CBF600 too slow), suzuki bandit and FZ6. The honda is unfaired and the bandit with fairing looks odd. The FZ6 had it all as far as I was concerned. Good looks, good engine, good riding position and a fairing that looks integral rather than bolted on afterwards. Oh and it was much cheaper than anything else.:Sport:
