Road Rage?

On a recent episode of Judge Alex Brown a plaintiff lost his suit. Judge ruled that since plaintiff entered an intersection just as light turned green and got plowed by a vehicle that had not cleared the intersection he was not due any damages. This doesn't sound like the case with your wife (it was a blatent red light runner; didn't enter intersection on a yellow) but I thought I'd bring this up anyway. You know the funny thing about red light cameras? Around here they only photograph left turn red light runners. Is there anyplace where red light cameras document the straight through red light runners? I wonder. I know now the some red light cameras are now photographing motorists who don't make a complete stop on a red before turning right----and receive the same whopping fine as if they blew through a red light!

The lights in sf and some around broakly (berkeley-oakland area) record the straight red runners.

Hopefully not thread-jacking, it seems related.

I saw a moto rider almost get taken out last weekend. Early morning on a Sunday. Rider was in the left hand turn lane at the top of an overpass. I was in the left of two lanes of traffic heading up towards him. Motorist in front of me just drove right on through a light that was changing well before we got to the intersection. Thankfully, the moto rider had looked right ever so briefly as he began to pull out and he rode around the car. I almost pooped myself and I was just riding in a car. It was such a strange, powerless feeling watching the moment unfold. Really unsettling. The moto rider did nothing. Nothing at all. No ride up and glare, no words, no finger; just shook his head and did his thing.

I'm riding slower around intersections these days and definitely got my head on a swivel...

My blood boils when something like that happens. A month or so ago, some lady who was tailgating me decided that I was leaving too much room in front of me and zipped around me to jump in front. She went from tailgating me to cutting me off all in one motion. At the next stop I pulled up next to her and knocked on her window. When she rolled it down I said "what was that about?" She said "what was what all about" like she had no idea. I explained to her that it was unsafe to drive like that, especially with a motorcycle, and rode off.

When I got home I told my wife and her first reaction was "don't do that because you have no idea who that person is". She is absolutely right. If it were some crazy person with a weapon I could have been screwed.

Also, I realized after that that I'm not going to be able to educate every idiot out there (they have us outnumbered folks). Since I can't teach the rest of the world how to drive safely, be considerate, and concentrate, I decided to just ride and drive defensively so that I can avoid accidents and road rage. I still get really pissed off when I see an idiot but I'm thankful when we part ways and they haven't fu%$#d up my day.

Hey Travis - after scolding this clueless cager, you should have gave her a lesson in energy balances, units, conversions, tie elements, equations of state, heat effects, phase transitions, and the first and second laws of thermodynamics applications in separation processes involving equilibrium reactions and energy exchange :) Sorry, your profession is amazing.

Dude, you are a better man than me. That chick wouldn't have heard anything from me but but the sound of a trashed rearview drivers side mirror hitting the floor, the sound waves of my middle finger flashing before her eyes, and the roar of my Tach as my pipes spit exhaust fumes into her lungs through the broken drivers window. Sorry did I say that??? uh, yeah, yeah, I have, oh I mean I would never do that :)

Road rage - Road rage - California dreamin.......

snatch him out of the car by his shirt.
headbutt him four or five time (with the helmet still on)
put him back in the car (unconsious)
put car in drive and let it roll off of the road.
go home and make sweet sweet love.
wow, that was really wrong but that is the mood im in........ Is it five o'clock yet?

Haha, yeah that is a bit extreme alright! :)

I saw a video today of a biker in ireland, he began his video in his house, walked outside and drove on his bike out the road. He drove across a pedestrian bridge onto a beach and then continued to undercut cars across the median, and drove in the hard shoulder for a long time. He overtook cars normally but when a car was in front of him on the overtake lane he would either lane split at speed or undertake them. He mounted curbs (sidewalk) and back on the road again. His driving was crazy!!! So what did I do?

I was able to find out his name easily, since he didn't try to hide it in any way. He obviously thinks his driving is safe. Anyway I reported him to the Gardai, so hopefully when they too see the movie they should be able to take his licence for the forseeable future and fine him a huge amount of cash to teach him a lesson. I dont care that he was a biker, he was a dangerous driver and deserves everything he gets from the law.

So if I were you, i'd have taken the licence plate of that car driver and reported him.

Don't pull out when the light turns green untill you see that the other cars are going to stop.

I live close to Ashland. I have to admit I kind of lost it when it all happened and it seems like little things happen all the time. Just wondering how everybody else deals with it.
When i got the bike that was one of the first things I had to ask myself am I willing to risk my life this much more because of idiots. I decided yes. Man I have had a lot of close calls in the 5 months of my first bike and 4 years of this job were for 2 yrs I worked in the road repairing water and sewer mains and the past 2 yrs of the promotion I got were I am in the road or next to it collecting data. I mean at first I lost it when someone came flying through our work zone almost taking out a fellow crew member. I almost lost my job once for throwing my hard hat at a car that took out a cone almost taking out a friend. I soon learned in this world and life we are always going to face morons. We have to learn to accept and live with these types of ppl and if the chance comes you can turn them in because you have your cam rolling while riding then do so. I guess what I am saying you can only control what you do. Don't let the idiots get the best of you and since you can't control all situations you are going to be faced with there is one you can control. This is what I try to do because I know there is no time in life guaranteed so every time I leave a loved one I tell them buy and I love them. Every time someone does something against me I try to forgive them and forget. Most of all every time I leave the presence of my wife I tell her I love her. I lost my Mom from cancer and while she struggled for 6 yrs to live. It was a constant reminder of what we are not promised. Plus I almost let my anger and stupidity cost me the chance to tell my Mom I was sorry for what I did and caused while growing up and for the hard times we faced when we were young for her mistakes. I am sorry this is long. But you asked what would we do and this is what I try to do, live, breath and remember. I am not perfect I fail these standards sometimes with losing my cool for stupidity but I never forget to remind my family I love them before I leave. Take care.

Carry ball-bearings in your pocket. Pass the offending cage, reach for a ball-bearing or two, and...

Seeing as this forum www.600riders.com and all the nice riders within it do not condone violent illegal acts of revenge - Scabs disclaimer is a good disclaimer. All ideas that may be posted here are hypothetical of course.............(including mine)...

I did! Halfway into the second law of thermodynamics her eyes rolled back into her head. I figured she was narcoleptic and rode off...
