Just went to motorcycle superstore to order a pair of pilot powers and came away with a great deal. Paid 214 for the pair shipped. Not sure if anyone uses the,, but you can't beat that deal.

You mounted them yourself? By hand or what do you use? 3 hours!

Dual sport and knobby tires are not THAT bad but I'm still struggling with full on street tire mounting.

Yes it was about 3 hours. I took time to give the sprocket and chain a cleaning as well. Probable would have taken about 2 1/2 hours to remove the rims from the bike and mount the new tires.


I use the Harbor Freight tire changer. It does ok. I didn't even have to use the changer to put the tires on. Soaped up the tire and rim real well and forced the tire on. I was suprised!

It's much harder for me to change my XR's tires than the FZ. Its a real PIA to get the damn bead over the rim.

The rear was toast and had a nice flat spot after about 6,200 miles. much commuting and not enough twisties!

Interesting. I guess breaking the bead is a lot easier on the XR, right? I can do it by hand on dual sport wheels/tires. I always put my new tires inside next to a heating duct so that they are nice and soft before the swap. Might help you if you have not done that...you'd be surprised.

That sure is a crazy price, in Australia, we pay just on $200 for one tyre, the front, and as for a rear tyre, about $300. It is a $500 job changing tyres in Australia...

I picked up a pair end of the season 2010 Pilot Power 2CT for $190 shipped from one of those big online superstores...they probably won't go on until late season this year...I still have a lot of BT016 rubber to burn off! :thumbup:

I ordered them online, I'm not sure where the brick and mortar is. They have free shipping so it works out great.
