Fender Eliminator Damage - Help

Hi guys,

So a buddy of mine drunkenly ripped off my bike cover this weekend with no care, and in doing so tore the rubber mount on one of the turn signals on my fender eliminator kit. It didnt totally tear through, but tore about halfway and is now hanging on an angle.

Tried to do a quick fix by using some gorilla glue and sanding the metal surface for a better bond, but it didnt hold and after one 35 mile ride it was again hanging off.

Havent had time to pull the kit off the bike and try to figure out a better long term fix, but was wondering if any of you have had to deal with this problem before. Any ideas how I can avoid buying a new kit and fix this thing?

Could you take a picture of it so we could see exactly where and.how its broken?

Picture would help, but based on what you said if it's the rubber indicator mount, it's not part of FE. It's part of indicator. If you're using stock turn signals you will need to buy that piece.

The FE kit was on the bike when I bought it, so I am not sure what kit it is or if it utilized stock turn signals...

I will try to get a picture in a few..need to take a walk out to the garage at work.

OK, here is a pic. As you can see the right side turn signal is hanging at an angle due to the rubber mount being torn on the top half. Are these the stock turn signals? Suggestions?

No those arent the stock signals and from what it looks like, since the gorilla glue didnt help eric is right you will prolly have to buy a new signal or pair of signals

Would something as simple and cheap as this suffice?

Agree with above statement.. you'll need to buy a new set, but don't sweat it! They're cheap. I've had great luck with Lockhart Phillips: Lockhart Phillips USA

There are lots of units out there. Go to any local motorcycle accessory shop.
They aren't expensive to begin with so buy a good bright set. It looks like you have incandescent bulb type and you might want to go LED type but you'll want to also change the flasher relay to an electronic flasher if you go to the LED type. There are many LED types that should not even be allowed to be sold because they are so dim so be warned pick a good quality LED if you go in that direction. There are loads of incandescent (regular bulb) types that are also manufactured garbage put in a package to entice you. They'll have the cheapest socket and bulb assembly packaged in some carbon fiber facsimile of a housing.

I guess there's nothing wrong with Gorilla glue but I would use gel super glue on rubber the next time. After you used the Gorilla glue it would be hard to use the gel super glue now.

You mentioned above a new relay to handle the switch over to LED. Would soldering in a resistor also help regulate the blinking speed?

I am very good with mechanical stuff but have never been much of an electrical guy

Haha! He is my good buddy, so I wont hold this over his head. I will just have him buy me some drinks next time we are out and call it even.

Or..I could accidentally break something on his ZX6R next time I see him...
