Thx Motogiro for the helpful reply!
In fact, a while ago, I actually noticed this strange behavior (the alarms not working) when I switched only the tail light blinkers to LED, but never paid to much attention to it, as I thought I did something wrong with the connections...

I don't know what relationship the alarm would have with that circuit so I would say find out why the alarm had strange behavior. Does the alarm flash your signal lights?

I just replaced my flasher all the way around, using LED light bars in the front and the TBR LEDs in the back. When just using the turn signals the lights flash pretty fast but when the 4 ways are on, they flash at the normal slower rate. It doesn't really bother me much so I won't be changing them unless I get a ticket. The nice thing is the light bars in the front are white when running lights and they flash amber when blinking as turn signals.

Pics/video please! :D

I'll try to get some video up tonight here are a couple of pics with them on. Not the best quality as the weather pretty much blows around here for going out to get pics. I'll get some nice ones up when spring hits around here. The video will show the bars flash amber.

Its too bad they don't make a plug and play unit that drops into the socket like the OEM one does (not hangin off the side). I'm buying two and will mod one to fit like it should.

The goal being the housing and connector are one in the same. I want it too look like its not dead fish on the hook hanging by the wires. :(

The plan **could go* like this:
- Trim the wire connectors backside making it as short as possible.
- Push the connector down onto the housing keeping it low and square to the housing.
- Wrap the housing in masking tape so it forms an empty hollow cavity with the connector inside.
- Fill the cavity with 5min epoxy and let it cure. (I have lots!)

- MAY need to scuff the housing for the epoxy to stick and hopefully its not to heavy when done.

I also changed the OEM blinkers with LED, but I didn't mind about the higher flashing rate..
On the contrary, it makes turning more noticeable from other drivers.
Is there any other reason to install a flasher, other than to decrease the flashing rate?

FWIW:
Spec is roughly 90 TIMES/min±10%

Have a :iconbeer: and try to count yours! :BLAA:

Sound of screeching brakes.........Wait a minute? Your flasher relay plugs in?

On the faired bikes , (at least 06 and earlier) the flasher is on a rubber mount inside the left side of the fairing. There's a tab the the rubber slides onto.

Yeah, I put Clubman bars on her and got a meter cover from the dealer to protect the wiring, she keeps me tucked in low now. Here is video of the 4 ways flashing:

Cliff, I got my relay in this morning and it's great! It took 2 minutes to install (and most of that was raising the tank). I got the one you said looked to have the Yamaha plug already attached, and it's a perfect fit.

Here's some pictures of where I stuck it with double sided tape. It's out of the way, and if I need to get to the actual battery, I can just disconnect the plug and it will come off with the battery cover. You can see that the relay has a big yellow sticker denoting it's a signal relay...easy to find!

My new Rizoma signals are now flashing at the normal rate! Whoo hoo!

Just got mine in the mail yesterday. Wow what a great, fast shipping company. Now I just need to get out in the cold garage and install it.

I bought two just in case one was DOA. Tested both. Both work and they drop into the OEM holder. Just use a Zip tie so the extra wire isn't flopping about.

I approve this mod! It's been on longer than the LEDs that need them!

Hmm I just ordered the indicator relay but now I have a question. Is the OEM relay the square one attached to the loom in the front fairing or is it under the tank? I just converted my 08 to naked last night and the new front signals resulted in a fast blink, which is how I found this thread. The headlight and indicator wiring loom has a small box with slotted rubber band around it attached with 2 wires. Is this not the OEM relay? The pics by CChouseky make it look like the relay is near the battery.

Yes that is the OEM flasher relay. It has 2 wires. It would have been mounted with that little rubber doohicky in the fairing, lower left hand side of the fairing. :)

Hi I have just fitted a tail tidy with led indicators and led number plate light but after a minute or so the lights went out and all four indicators are inop but also have no form of side lights? Would this be a flasher relay that I need to change to an led relay? Thanks Danny

Probably a blown fuse. One fuse feeds flasher , tail and running lights. Check your wiring....
