Worst day ever. Bike stolen

Ok , first off. I live in a town of 500 people at most. They mostly all know me.

I rode my bike last night and pulled it in the front yard. I made a giant ****ing mistake and $$$$! in it! Well about 6 this morning my wife shakes me and screams is that your ****ing bike? So I get out side and the guy is riding off down a no traffic highway! We call the cops, it take them 30 minutes to show up. Meanwhile my wife's mom works up here in town and called and wondered where I was going because she met the ******* on my bike! I am still in a state of shock.... She said the guy had a helmet! (That couldn't have been random) the roads where a likte wet and I was hoping that he would have lost it and killed or paralyzed him... This is terrible for someone to take **** they didn't earn. Il be lucky to get my license plate back...

The bike is fully covered. But wil I be ok even if I accidentally left the keys in it? This is ****ing terrible!!!!


Sorry, just gotta vent. The cops better find him before I do.

i might forget to mention the keys were in the bike, or at least check your policy. As a minimum you may have to pay a larger excess.

I would leave the key part out for sure. My policy had full coverage for theft and for accessory loss up to a grand.

Read the paperwork and if need be, talk to the agent if he is cool with you and not going to eff you over.

I had my car stolent almost 11 years ago now, and all I could keep thinking was I hope they crash, burst into flames and go through some dramatic cinematic death scene. So I know how your feeling and I'm sorry man, that sucks

Just don't mention that you left the keys in the ignition.

It's crazy to see that you guys actually have thefts in small towns.

I live in New York City so whenever I am outside of the city in suburbia, smaller towns etc. my paranoia stays in New York City. I leave all my stuff on the bike, jacket, helmet etc. I guess everything outside of New York City just seems safe to me.

It's probably somebody that knows you. You live in a town with 500 people of a population. This was no theft of opportunity.

No... He might have walked by and then went and got the helmet. It was parked in the front yard....

He stole it at 6 o clock. I got to hear my twobrs exhaust haul ass.... Il be checking craigslist for parts. There is only a handful of 08'a in this state. I was told about a guy who pulls this **** by 2 different people. He lives up the way the thief went, but couldn't see any tracks and his house is at the end of a dead end road...

Wouldn't be surprised if it's somebody you know. It's the holiday season, thefts and robberies usually go up around this time of year too.

if you have suspicion of where the bike might be, report that to the cops, just make sure that they leave you anonymous, and be prepared to apologize if its not him. id also keep an eye in that area for a bike like yours (different color even) in that specific area.

Its not even legal to begin to say what i would do to somebody if they stole my bike and i caught them.

leaving out minor details is not insurance fraud. if they dont ask, you dont give them reason to deny the claim. Insurance is enough of a hassle to begin with. if they ask, dont lie, but initially i would not say anything self incriminating. its like selling a car, you talk about the things that will help it sell not the paint swirls, rust bubbles, or previous accidents its been in.

If you're thinking of saying anything but the full truth, i would be VERY carefull what you put on public internetforums ...

I don't know how insurance works over there, but in most places there's a clause saying that you shouldn't provoke the theft. It's up to you and your insurance company to fight out that if leaving your keys on there falls under that clause.

I don't see how it is insurance fraud if they don't ask and if nowhere in the fine print it says to tell. Regardless, the insurance should cover it. The bike was parked in his property. The thief was technically trespassing and there by already breaking the law at least this is what the cops told me once. ON top of all that it seems quite obvious that our forum member is not in cahoots with the criminal and would probably gladly accept his bike back if undamaged. I leave my keys on a hook inside the front door. I don't lock the door very often seeing that I'm inside and often a firearm is at close hand.

On top of that I had a freind back in CT. His neighbor used to go out and unlock her car and turn it on to allow it to warm and defrost. The car was stolen twice in a 2-3 month period. The insurance paid the first time. The family got smart and installed a security cam because I guess they knew this women would not listen and leave her car to warm again. Well, the second time it happened it was the little $hit teenager from next door on video. They recovered the car and the kid went to juvey.

My point is the insurance paid and this woman had left the keys in the car and running.

Doesn't matter about the keys. Think of it this way you just park the bike get off and turn around someone jumps on and rides off. The insurrance will still pay but if not asked don't tell.

I don't care, thiefs are the second lowest criminal behind a rapist/pedo. Sometimes I wish I lived in CO where the Dirty Harry law allows you to shoot someone if they break in. In AZ you have to feel mortally threatened so if the thief grabs a handful of your $hit and turns his back on you, you can't do anything. He theoretically could steal everything in your house if his back is to you and he says he means you no harm. At least the muslims have one thing right, in taking off the hand of a thief.
