One more thing to keep in mind is that there is a such thing as an "attitude ticket". This relates back to an officers discretion. Officers have the option to warn instead of issuing a citation.

And there's such a thing as pulling over quickly, being very polite to the cop and not BSing them, and being given a warning for 110mph after multiple cagers called 911 about your high rate of speed.

Dude, it's simple math. Your speed should be below the number on the big white sign. If you want to break that rule, you will continue to pay.

Frankly, I speed too. Unlike you, I average one ticket every three years, and an equal number of warnings. So here's some advice from somebody who has a good record of getting away with it.

1. Valentine 1. You could have bought one now for the money you spent on tickets.

2. ****can the attitude. You're the one who's endangering himself and others. The cops are the ones trying to keep you and everyone else safe. Try being apologetic and humble and nonthreatening when you're pulled over.

3. There's a time and a place. If you're doing it in traffic, you're being a squid and you deserve the ticket.

4. If you didn't see the cop, then you're speeding and also not paying attention to your environment. That's dangerous.

Just so im on the same page here. You were in a 60kph zone. People were doing 55-58, you passed them, along with a cop, doing 78, then wonder why you got pulled over? then, after having $900 in fines in one year, wonder why you got another ticket?

You understand that that "speed limit" means the max you can ride on that road right? its not "Speed how'eva'ya'feel".

Im not saying dont do it. i speed all the time, but when you get caught, you be a man about it.... You was in the wrong, take the punishment dude..

why does everyone think I think I am complaining? I am guilty of the offense and received the ticket. I just vented a little bit and shared for the entertainment of the masses. Just having some fun with it. Relax peoples. You take me far too seriously.

2. I'm not endangering anyone. That includes myself. I pick the time and place and do so by the situation and conditions around me. I could care less what I am "supposed" to be doing. I am not unsafe. As I've said before, there are many times I am well below the posted limit because the situation calls for it. I don't zoom around at high rates of speed weaving through traffic. I meandre through traffic when it is safe to do so.

Also, I was non-threatening and polite. Humble I could not do because I am not doing anything wrong. Illegal? Yes. Wrong? No.

Nope. I can make sound, rational arguments why 78 in a 60 zone is perfectly acceptable for brief moments when the road and conditions allow and be supported by countless studies. Drinking and driving? Not so much.

No, I'm not wondering. I knew there was about a 50/50 shot Id get a ticket. And I got one. I'm not saying I am surprised or shocked or even that I don't deserve it. I am just expressing and sharing how I disagree with the laws through my actions.

I'm not bashing cops, if you read my posts in the first 2 pages you will see that. I'm not even bashing this cop. All I said was she was mildly aggressive when she didn't need to be. She was well within her job description as a traffic cop. In fact, she was pretty nice and cute too. Just a touch on the aggressive side. And a bit stiff.

Yeah, that is not a good thing to do.....for my sake. I wouldn't do it. I value my health too much.

hey at least the tickets are cheaper there than in SK. My last speeding ticket, was around the $220 mark and i wasn't over the limit as much as you were.

Everyone speeds folks, don't say that you never do. Drive/ride within your limits and road conditions

Alberta isnt that much better to be honest. Out west we have mountains but even the roads there are pretty straight. But the western half of the province has some nice scenery and up north there is tons of woodlands.

The big problem with saskatchewan is the lack of anything to look at.

Great skies though. I like the flat and straight stuff though sometimes. And around Edmonton there is tons of that. You have to get about an hour west of Edmonton to get into any kind of decent scenery, and 4 hours west to get into the nicer scenery.

Saw a cop car on way to work. Wasn't riding very aggressively, just filtering through traffic at around 65-70kph as a cruising speed in a 60kph zone.

Went to pass the cop car in the same fashion. Lights flash, I pull over. She is SHOCKED when I ask what the problem is.

"You were doing 78 in a 60 zone!"

But I will say that I'm smart enough not to exceed them when I can see a cop sharing the road with me. And I'd never pass a cop that was driving at or near the limit. Were I a cop, I would have given you a ticket too.

well not to say what is wright or wrong here, but i know part of the frustration that is felt.. as far as the limits not being what they should. as this is one of the things that i hate most of canada.. all the speed limits are about 10 mph slower there than here.. we go 70 mph on the highway (limit is anywho) and it is like 60 mph there.. a place that we go 25 mph they to like 18 mph, and it is sooo annoying. but what are you to do?? slow down and be annoyed.


and another usless bit of info, is that we (at least in michigan) are allowed to go 5 mph over the posted speed limit to "safely" pass someone.. (so your not doing the forever long pass or in the blind spots ect for long.)

So.....next time you hear about a guy getting off a murder charge because of a legal technicality, and you say to your friends, "someone needs to kick the judge's a55" or something...you are actually and sincerely advocating physical violence against a decorated member of the legal community?

it was a figure of speech and rhetorical device and when i posted the initial post i was a bit irked. i wasnt complaining, i wasnt really even moaning about it. i just wanted to vent and share. and so i vented and shared.

in my town cops are giving tickets to bikes that are "illegaly" parked on the side of the road while on the same side huge recycle bins take over the same space as two bikes are parked. its pure insanity. the same time they are not giving tickets to bikes that are parked on the pavement (witch is illegal tοo) so now there is a new style in town: 1-2 bikes with tickets on the road side and 100-200 bikes without the tickets on the pavement blocking the way of the people (especialy disabled or moms with babies) now talk to me about justice and cops "doing their jobs" all they do is collect bonus from tickets. i've never seen a woman cop in Greece not having a REALY BIG FAT AS5 and not being extremely rude
