Cleaning calipers with an ultrasonic cleaner?

All right Fizzer Family, I have a head scratcher. I am going to rebuild the S2 calipers on my 05 (and also on my 06 FJR). I want to clean ALL the gunk off them and was thinking about putting them in an ultrasonic cleaner. Obviously they will be stripped bare but not split, but I have had folks tell me that I might damage the o-rings used to seal the 2 halves together. I would understand the need to carefully choose whatever solution I use, but I was told that the ultrasonic action alone would put the o-rings at risk. What say you?

Also, if anyone wants to suggest a cleaner or another method, feel free. I am still in the decision phase of this repair.

I would just use brake cleaner spray and a toothbrush, rather than risk messing around.

Just make sure you do it in a well ventilated space or you can end up with a hell of a headache (guess how I know... )
