End of the FZ6-N in UK ?

MCN (motorcycle rag in UK) has a comparison chart of virtually all the UK bikes, under the FZ6 they mention how good the naked is, but then go on to say discontinued WTF.

If it is guess my bike is worth keeping as a future classic, wonder what if anything will replace it as the naked XJ6 (naked FZ6R) is not half the bike. At over 6 foot not many 600 class bikes that are big enough for me so if true I really mourn the loss.

Maybe they just want to sell the faired version only, to simplify things.

As for the FZ6 in general, I've heard from many sources that 2009 is the last year for the FZ6.
Hopefully they just mean the current model, and hopefully they release develop an S3 model, but it's unlikely.

yea... but in respect to killing the fz6.. 1. i have seen that to switch the faired version to the unfaired, its a lot of wires that have to be sodders.. stuff liek that.. 2. they may not have 1 change for the fz6 2010 model year.. might just stay the same and offer all with fairings.. who knows..

in no disrespect to our FZ6R and XJ6 owners, but these two motorcycles have seamed to killed the FZ6....

The FZ6 (all versions beyond the R) have been around to battle the SV650 and succeeding with giving Suzuki a thorough spanking. Although with the youth of today, a lot of new riders are looking for a 600 "R" bike that they can afford brand new. And with the economy as it is, Yamaha decided to answer. giving a drowned out version of a FZ6 with lower fairings standard. This look effect is successful, even with less performance than the FZ6 (Pure irony with the addition of an "R" to the tittle of the bike), and as more sell, any company would come to understand that "The targeted comsumer must not care as much about performance and handling of a bike than the looks and cost of the bike."

I hope that Yamaha will keep the FZ6 around, but if people keep buying the FZ6R and the XJ6, all versions of the FZ6 will die out to it.

yeah, all the entry 600s seem to have 70-80 bhp, while fz6 has 98bhp. fz6r has 70ish bhp. i really hope fz6 won't get canned but it probably will. IMO the fz6r looks like crap lol (no offense to any fz6r owners)

I soon as they released the fz6r, xj6n, and xj6 diversion...the writing was one the wall for the fz's!why would Yamaha keep 6 different bikes in it's line up in one section of the market! Oh well, all good things come to an end...I know I will get many more years pleasure out of my fz's!

from the looks of it, many engine parts between fz6 and the fz6r are the same. even the gas tank looks identical. i could be wrong though.

and new parts fir fz6's are not expensive enough already! $1400 for a fuel tank in oz!

You would think seeing as there are truckloads of fz's out there, that parts won't be a problem for many years to come... Especially second hand.

Yea, imagine the cost of a tank when yamaha quits making that model? scary....

the only thing with second hand, is that most of second hand stuff has been through a crash. You will have to hunt hard and well for good condition OEM parts.

There is no way you can loose 20+ hp and have almost identical engine parts. The case and transmission may be the same, but the pistons, con-rods, cams, etc are probably different (i could be wrong, i have not looked at the detailed specs of the FZ6R, but then again i might find it too depressing, lol).

As far as the tank goes, i have heard that it is a smaller tank

no offense taken, the FZ6 looks like crap too If looks were everything there would be a whole lot more unmarried people out there.
