Question FZ6 Wont start after accident

So bridged the 2 wires, can hear the fuel pump but still won't start, I only gave it a few 5 second cranks so maybe need to try longer?

I can hear the relay click when I turn the ignition on

The bike should run once upright again.

Under normal conditions I know this is the way it works. But you have to key off/on for it to reboot, check the sensor is now upright, and reset (all automatic).
What I'm not 100% sure is whether it can do a proper reboot/full systems check with a smashed up display.

I think the only value the display would provide is to confirm that the ECU is generating an Error Code 30. The code is not cleared through the instrument cluster.

There is one place the display assembly might stop the ECU from operation but I don't know for sure. There is an oil level switch. The ECU might handshake through the data line to the instrument cluster CPU. The oil level switch is read through the instrument CPU and if it's telling the ECU there's no oil the ECU may stop the engine.

Yeah a decent amount of fuel.

So another question, do the clocks have a separate loom from the main loom?

I’ve begun work on my project FZ6 (I’ll start a thread soon) and have been running it without the instrument cluster installed as I haven’t decided how to install it yet. I can confirm that the bike runs without it.

There are 2 plugs for the cluster. There is a fuse that provides constant voltage to the clock in the cluster.
look for a lost ground wire to the chassis frame/engine. The ECU needs it ground/negative to provide operation for the injectors and coils.
Check for spark. Check for injector spray.

hi, received the clocks, 2 plugs (black and white) as expected - the loom on the bike also 2 (both white), the black fits into 1 but the white doesnt fit the other so i'm thinking there should be another part of the loom, surely it should be black with black and white with white?

Also when i plug the black into the white the clock power up even if the ignition is off and the entire display is shown as per the pic

So I'm guessing there is another loom

Hopefully check for spark and spray later today if i get time

John - I would expect that the eBay gauge cluster is defective, because...well...eBay. Do you happen to know someone else with an FZ6 that you could do a quick swap (plug your cluster into their harness)?

I've checked a few and most have the 2 plugs like mine, I'm sure there must be a little loom for the speedo/lights etc

The harness that the instrument cluster plugs into is a short harness that extends to two additional connectors on the left side of the front frame. Are you missing that harness?

Look at these photos, it shows the harness that goes from the main harness (terminated on the left side of the frame) to the gauge cluster. This mid-harness also has the connectors for the headlights and forward turn signals.

Was this bike bought as a wreck? And the gauge cluster was not connected to anything when you got it?

Bikes in Europe have immobilizers. Does your bike have an immobilizer?
